This is exactly what happened to me, except I wasn't smart enough to realize that it was tied to the time of my period untill it happened 6 or 7 times... my husband had to point it out to me. For me, it got worse each month, and the "period" got longer to the point that I only felt normal for about a week each month. I always felt pregnant- tired, mood swings, morning sickness feeling, constant bloated belly, I looked 5 months pregnant. That stuff went away pretty quickly when I had it removed. The anxiety still comes around ovulation and period, but nothing like when I had it in. Almost everyone on this forum (keep in mind, we are onlyhere becuase we had problems, so it is not the general mirena population) started out with a few mild symptoms that eventually get worse, so I would get it out while its still not that bad. The symptoms will go away, trust me. I now realize that we have periods for a reason, and I'm not messing with mine anymore! No more fake hormones for me

OMG my husband wants me to have mine taken out as soon as possible, I too delivered in December in 2007 and had mine inserted end of Feb 2008, and I have not had a period for about 3 months now! I feel wierd it's hard to explain or actually just too much too explain but now I'm just contemplating getting it taken out just to rule out that it's what making me this way! BTW I am 30yrs old...does that have anything to do with it... I can never find the thread!

I had my daughter when i was a few months shy of turning 18, so i decided that i didn't want to take the chance of getting pregnant again so young, so my husband and i did research and found that mirena was the best way for me to go, or so we thought.
I started to have pain during sex, and the string would actually cut my husband, even after the string was trimmed 2x (ouch!><),had no libido, vaginal dryness, weight gain and on top of it all, i also experienced anxiety and depression. i had to quit breastfeeding my daughter,not by choice, just dried up (doctor said it wasn't because of mirena, but i suspect it was)but 3 years later, i still have a little white/grayish leakage from my breasts...
...i had no period while i was on it (which like you, i WISHED i did) which was for almost 3 years, and almost six months post-removal, still no period. the day after the removal i had painful what i'll call 'a-not-a-period' after it was removed for about 3-4 days. (i call it that because i think it was just from the removal...And, besides the no period part, there was a big improvement in most of my symptoms almost instantly! if the pill worked fine for you, i would encourage you to do so again, to try to avoid any more symptoms or worsening of your symptoms...

These are my exact symptoms. I noticed a couple days ago that I should have my period by now but I do not have it. I know it's normal for Mirena to stop your period (half the reason I got it) but I still noticed PMS symptoms like getting overly emotional at silly commercials. I didn't know if you sill get PMS when you don't get your period while on mirena so I did a simple google search and this was the top hit. After reading your post I was shocked because I have been shaky, cold, anxious, and not feeling too well. I did not attribute any of these symptoms to my mirena. I honestly thought it was due to other things but after hearing you all say you have all of these exact symptoms around the time you should get your period I think there is no coincidence.

I know this post is olde, but I too have been experiencing this. I've had Mirena since Nov 2016. so 6 months ago. I never had much in the way of PMS other than cramps, but since getting the IUD, I'm SUPER irritable and emotional the same week every month (sure sounds like PMS, right?). I also go through many more highs and lows throughout the month than I ever did before. I used the pill for nearly 20 years before changing to the IUD, so I'm sure the pill was handling some PMS for me, but come on! I also, just want to be sure this isn't a problem with the Mirena.
So, thanks for sharing so that I can understand my own issues better.
