Its just you ;)
(just kidding)
But, I don't discount anything before I get an idea what to think.
Here's an example:
Edgar Cayce did a few thousand health readings (giving exact causes for health troubles as well as a cure), they are all recorded and can be viewed even on line (if you subscribe to them) and he never made a mistake in those health readings. I've been studying them for a number of years now, going even as far as reading follow up letters from patients, and so on, and everything clicks in. How did he do it? He said it was through "Christ consciousness".
Before you decide that it's all load of crap, consider these examples:
- his wife gets sick. Some type of stomach trouble can't remember exactly. Deadly. MDs come, and say that she won't live through the night; they should call a priest. Time to die. She was only in her 30s. Cayce remembers that he did a wierd thing a few times, when it helped with health, and decides to try again. The reading (the voice that came through him was not him) said that she can survive, but they have to give her some grape juice immediately. She was uncoscious so all they could give here were a few drops in her mouth. Next day she was alive and a few times opened her mouth. Doctors came and couldn't believe she was still alive. Then the reading suggested increasing the amount of grape juice, and putting crushed grapes on her belly. They did that too. To make long story short - she survived and lived for many many years after.
- His neighbor had a daughter who was mentaly retarded. She was around 7-8 yrs old, but had an IQ of a two yr old. The reading said she injured her spine when she was two and that created energy blocks in her nervous system. The reading suggested finding an osteopath to correct the problem through spinal adjustments. They did it many times, the readings were correcting them as to how to do it, and once done, a few weeks later the girl quickly advanced to her age. Later she went to school with all the others and got married and had healthy kids.
Now, even getting just these two right is quite a miracle (for someone completely uneducated in medicine). But he got it right some 10,000 times. Most of the cures we are discovering here today Cayce discovered for us some 100 yrs ago, as is the case with castor oil packs. Naturally, when the word spread, he got arrested, and so on... (btw, he never took money for his readings, so he died poor).
Even today people are quick to point that he was wrong with his predictions while no one says that he always said, regarding future - "future is not fixed therefore it is not predictable. It depends on our actions." Near future is more predictable then things that are further ahead. But people are quick to point out "errors" in his predictions, where none existed. They were merely possibilities and true to his explanation - those which were nearer materiaized, and those in more distant future mostly didn't. He predicted the stock market crash about a year before it happened and it did. He also predicted the WWII and Hitler and his death. But he said for instance that USA may choose not to get into the war which would be better.
I could go on and on...
As for "barfing" reflex, I get the same feeling because with exception of very few individuals in this world (who mostly never even walked into a church), those who love to say and do things in Christ's name, do so for all the wrong reasons.
But just because something has been perverted doesn't make it automatically bad (not religion, but Christ consciousness). Many other good things were perverted the same way...
