I have been studying the raw food lifestyle for some time now, and absolutely love & appreciate the perfection of it. I'm also interested in detoxing my overburdened body. I'm 26 years old, 5'8" tall and weigh 165
pounds (I would be more comfortable at about 135!).
I know I'm killing my body. I promise myself to start doing things right "tomorrow" and then proceed to spend the rest of the day bingeing on Starbucks' vanilla lattes, banana splits, popcorn, twizzlers, pasta, and french fries. This is really what I eat, and it's almost my sole diet. I don't have problems with meat or a lot of fried foods (except french fries), etc. I just eat tons of this starchy, fatty crap. I'm a vegetarian, but obviously not for health reasons.
What I need is for someone to help me out with a little motivation. I know there are a lot of experts on here. I also want to know if I should do a
Water Fast or some other detox before I convert to a raw foods lifestyle? How should I transition? I have a bad habit of pulling the "all or nothing" routine, so if someone could lay down some guidelines, I'll at least have something to stick by. If I had it my way I would be 100% raw and perfect immediately, but I'm realizing it's not that easy.
It seems to me that raw (vegan too maybe?) is perfection. Maybe I'm putting this lifestyle on too much of a pedestal & that's my problem. I don't know, but I know that I feel totally inept right now, like I'm just not good enough & never will be.
I'm so disgusted with myself. I feel so bloated and unhealthy, and I want to start feeling better right away. Does anyone have any suggestions? How did you guys get on the path to ideal health?
Also, a technical question here: I use an over the counter water filter pitcher (Pur brand). Is this doing any good? Is it just making the water taste better or is it really ridding the water of toxins? I can't invest in a high priced filter. My money is practically non-existent. Another issue when trying to go all-organic.
Sorry this is so long. I really would appreciate some help here. Thanks.
