Hi all,
I really like what's been happening in the forums the last few weeks. We've been trying to better organize and position ourselves to be noticed by the mainstream health organizations and media (that is internationally!) There has been a lot of good ideas recently: Workshops, Job ideas, Need to document experiences with medical community, Exposure through the Talk Shows, etc. Today, I want to add my two cents.
I have been lurking for about 6 months and never really felt the need to post, but this changed after reading the last 10 to 15 posts by mpdela and a few others. I believe this community has definitely made a strong step in the right direction. We need to keep the momentum going.
What I am proposing is a thread with PROFILES only! Not the profile itself, but a THREAD titled “Profiles” with the particular items I will be explaining shortly. Not the regular empty and deceiving profiles we find on every forum or website on the net, but a true profile of who we are and the specifics of our particular condition. This will make it easier, among other things, to truly compare treatment protocols, and understand why some “cures” may not work for everybody. The full purpose of this will be more apparent after explaining all the items.
I will soon start the thread “Profiles”, which MUST be separate from this one. In this thread, I am expecting criticisms, additions and/or improvements to this proposal of mine. But, by all means, let's not waste too much time arguing about minor details. The important thing is to start; we can always amend a previous profile. Also, let's try to keep the opinions and the flame wars away from the “Profiles” thread itself. If we have to fight over rights or wrongs, let's do it here, in this thread!
The easy way to do a profile would be to cut and paste the explanation part of this message into a word processor and work from there. This way everyone will be able to follow the same format. (One can also start with someone else's profile.) Then he/she can cut and paste his/her own finished profile back into curezone. Please do not omit an item that doesn't apply to you; simply put “n/a” next to it. One must replace the subject line with his/her username when inputting a message in the “Profile” thread.
1. NAME & ADDRESS. Here, I only mean our curezone handle and/or email address, if we deem the latter to be necessary. We can instead use our box on curezone if we like. People who want to communicate more closely may chose to do so privately.
2. LOCATION. Where in the world we are located, mostly the Country (and the City or Town if one thinks it's appropriate.)
3. COUNTRY OF BIRTH. This is important only as far as general lifestyle and diet differences are concerned.
4. ETHNICITY. Some races are more prone to certain ailments than others. We all understand why this is necessary.
5. AGE/SEX. Your real age, not in dog years! :-)
6. DURATION OF CONDITION. Length of time since we have been suffering from this ailment.
7. CHARACTERISTICS. Type of Body Odor: Fishy, Fecal, Smoky, Rusty, Sour, Garbage-like, etc.
8. SITE. General area where odor seems to come from.
9. DIETS. The different diets we've been on since birth, and especially around the time when we became aware of our condition and the diets we've tried since. Could be Vegan, SAD, Yogic, Vegetarian, Fruitarian, Lacto-ovo Vegetarian, and all the other variations. Also the types of food we eat a lot of on a regular basis.
10. ALLERGIES. Food, Medications, Environmental Conditions which may trigger allergic reactions.
11. BATHROOM USE. Here we are talking about frequency, consistency, etc. Be as specific as your condition warrants.
12. EXERCISE REGIMEN. Type of regular physical activity like running, weightlifting, yoga, etc.
13. PERCEIVED SINGLE CAUSE. Here is where we would state what we believe from our own experiences and research to be the Single Cause of our ailment. I can feel there will be a lot of disagreement about this. I would like people to understand what I mean by “Single Cause”. Bleeding, for example, is Caused by a Rupture of certain blood vessels. This can be brought about by Aneurysm, Stabbing, or a Blow with a blunt object like a hammer. The cause of the bleeding is not the aneurysm, stabbing or blow, but the rupture of the particular blood vessel. See note (1) at the end of this message.
14. GENERAL CONDITIONS. Here is where we will talk about the general occurrences that brought about our condition. Now we ARE talking about the aneurysm, stabbing or blow which caused the rupture of blood vessel. See note (2) at the end of this message.
15. TREATMENTS. Various treatments and/or therapies we have tried and the resulting success or failure. It would be wise to refrain from claims of having found a CURE until we are really sure our condition has disappeared. Not improved, disappeared! A protocol is not a cure! If we have to take a certain medicine or perform certain things for a long period of time, we are not cured. To be cured means to get back to the exact same state we were before the onset of this ailment.
16. HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS. Mainstream physicians, alternative medicine practitioners, herbalists, etc, that we have seen.
17. WORST MISCONCEPTION. Here goes what you think is the worst misconception about our condition, both from people of this community and from other people (family, friends, co-workers, media, etc.)
18. WORST REACTION. We state here the worst reaction people usually have when we are around.
19. EMPLOYMENT. Jobs we currently hold or have held during this nightmare of ours.
20. APPROPRIATE JOBS. Here I mean the types of employment that would allow us to earn a decent living without too much human contact and/or possibility of humiliation.
21. SHORT TERM GOALS. Health wise, what we would like to achieve in the short term.
22. HOBBIES.
23. NOTES.
That should be all. Again do not spare your opinions and feelings about this proposal.
Yours,
Cleartheroom
(Nice handle, isn't it? Because that's what I do wherever I go!)
Note (1). In my case, I believe the single cause of my condition is an imbalance in the gut flora. Then again, maybe it's not!
Note (2). In my case, the imbalance in the gut flora was probably brought about by an overuse of diet teas. For other people, the same imbalance could be related to overuse of antibiotics, reaction to a specific type of antibiotics, failure to use probiotics after colon cleansing, reaction to certain food items, etc.
Hi cleartheroom,
I love your idea of creating profiles. I'm certain trends will eventually stand out, which can serve a purpose when you least expect it. I’m going to do mine as soon as I can. I want to make sure I do it right.
I think polls and other research data gathering tool would also most certainly be helpful.
I guess what I can recommend for people who prefer to be more private, is to do a profile anyway including only the information that you feel comfortable sharing. That info might just be the one that everyone else is experiencing.
Cleartheroom, I'm really happy that you're active now after having been an observer of this forum for so long. We can certainly use people who want to take initiatives to help our common cause - to give hope to every single person whose life is adversely affected by body odor. Welcome.
And I say to everyone in this forum, even if you think you have nothing to contribute, I would bet that you do.
