I think if we could abolish all organized religion then there would be world peace. Hundreds of Millions of people have been murdered since the beginning of time because "my God is better than your God therefore you must die" All so called Holy books are in fact just men's interpretations of God. Why do so many people think that the Bible, Koran, or the Talmud are the instruction manual of the universe when these books are so flawed? What category do you fall in to if you believe in a God of Creation but do not believe in the Bible, Koran, Or the Talmud? I don't think God has or ever will come down from Heaven and write a book! Why do people go to church, mosque, or temple to have someone decipher these so called Holy Book Holy words? All interpretation is really just one man's opinion.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,133,234I believe God is personal and individual for each person. I don't believe in God Clubs or religions where one person interprets a Holy Book and by doing so adds his personal opinions about the so called Holy Book Holy Words.

...there seems to be an attack on spirituality,
(of course, it just HAPPENS to be in a Christian forum, something you had hoped would go unnoticed and thought to be coincidental).
All of a sudden, there also seems to be an abundance of "numbers".
Numbers provide a layer of clandestine anonymity, but also a layer of safety from rebuttal so that if you choose to shed accountability for your opinions, attitudes, and your 'suggestive hints' hoping to manipulate/steer the discussion, you can simply switch numbers, preventing continuous identity.
First was the attack/suggestive hint that the search for absolute truth should end (incredible audacity, but that's the first tactic of evil,..."Audacity first"), and then there's this representation of your intellect that humanity could ever be peaceful (with or without organized religion).
I'm certainly no fan of organized religion, but, don't flatter yourself, the dark hearts of humanity would still be just as dark (if not darker).
Of course you're not going to make the claim that everything the American government has done militarily, including the invasions and torture, constitutes PEACE, that's why your original assertion that peace among humanity is possible was so short.
Evil is illogical, peace and harmony are logical, completing your thoughts (being logical/rational) would prevent you from actually carrying out evil deeds/thought, and also makes it difficult for others to recognize/identify and avoid your snare (misery loves company, doesn't it?). Notice how you cringe and squirm in the darkness of your hearts, it is of your own making/choice, it is your present hell/hades.
If you continue to reside in your heart's present hell/hades, the wages of your sins ensure that you are eligible for the lake of fire...

This is a reply to # 1,133,218True lots of people have died over religion, but you don't seem to realize the underlying reason for this. It's the same reason wars are fought over land, greed, pride, money, superstitions and so on. Many more people have died for these reasons than religion, and until the underlying reason for all these causes are eliminated there will be wars. You have to admit there is more than one reason for war in the world. By the way you're doing the exact same thing you're condemning. Saying your way is better than some other way, which I've done too.
It's also true that all religious books are flawed to some extent and religious leaders and churches are too, but I think you have to admit they are good starting points. Why condemn your brothers and sisters who are begining their journey? Those who seek truth wind up in the same place do they not? They arrive in the truth or reality of God. Those that are inbetween are the ones that are confused. The ones who use religion for evil purposes are the ones who need to be condemned.
If you believe in a loving God you fall into "a lover of God" just like those who believe in the Bible, Koran, Or the Talmud. You just don't read the books.
And you're right God will never write a book. Would you write a book about yourself showing why people should love you? That's not love. You would just be there for everyone when they need help, especially those beginning their journey. You would treat everyone with the love and respect they deserve. Your actions would cause people to love you, right? No words required.
My "interpretation is really just one man's opinion" just like yours is. Bottom line, we got lots of work to do. So lets get busy eliminating ignorance and spreading peace since we all want it.- Edited Hidden Username

I believe Catholics incorporated Mary into the equation too. How did Mary and the Moon become holy? Man. This is a reply to # 1,135,517I love God. I don't believe any book is from God or Allah. I believe most religious books are human accounts of their experiences with God or what ever you want to call God. I also believe quite a few of the things attributed to God were just part of the natural experiences in life, and it still goes on today.

I understand your struggles with the concept of God, at least I think I do if you are saying that for you, all you know is that "God IS" and that the God of Creation is too big to contain in any single book or building. Especially ones that have been built and written, however devinely inspired, by mere mortal men.
Insofar as abolishing organized religion ending wars and bloodshed, you are dreaming - however pleasant those dreams may be. Man has been and still is far too barbaric and caught up in greed, wealth, power territory, sex, etc., and ending religion, organized or not, would not immediately change that. Organized religion has been used as a tool and justification for war by those in power throughout the ages, but the wars themselves have seldom been about religion itself and would have likely happened anyway.

That's a total of about 390 million lives from 21 wars (approximately 'countless trillions' of gallons of blood spilled), yet mankind finds a way to glory in that. Then there's the survivor's,...how many wish they hadn't survived? Then there's the corporate and government corruption artists, the criminals and pharm/med, etc.
So, the naysayers pick on religion as the culprit of humanity (for their conscience), what do you expect?...all is normal (standard operating procedure).
This is 'CIVILIZATION'!!??
