I understand what you're saying. I've tried to be a vegan at various times in my life but just couldn't maintain. I know my body feels "cleaner" when I don't eat meat, and like you, I don't know if that's psychosomatic or what. Wouldn't it be great if our bodies came with owner manuals? As it is, we each have to chart our own course; I'm just beginning the Eat Right 4 your Type diet, and it feels strange to eat red meat. I'd pretty well gotten used to eating fish and chicken. I can't afford to eat organically grown beef. It's an occasional luxury, so I know I'm putting chemicals and steroids in my body.
I'm trying to pay heed to my bodies signals and decide if this is right for me. I'll probably end up adopting parts of the diet, the same as I did with another book "The Maker's Diet". That book changed my life, but I don't follow it exclusively. I just go through life, picking and choosing what seems to be right for me now.
