Hi, I just had the acupuncture done today, and I don't know what he did, but I feel good. Psychosematic, probably, but who cares at this point? I went in and had to tell the guy about what's going on, and he asked some questions about my general health. Then he checked the palms of my hands, the soles of my feet, and my tongue, and checked my pulse on each wrist and behind each knee. He told me I was "yin" and "fire" and that my body was inflamed, blocked, and my gastrointestinal system was flared, and he said this was most likely due to the horomones I was mentioning, wich he said was to Yin for my system (progesterone, in general) He said to never go on a single horomone contraceptive again, it would put my body terribly off balance again. besides the fact that I will NEVER take bc pills or anything like that, I felt like he was almost scolding me, it was funny.
Then I got on the table and he had me roll up my pants to my knees, roll my sleeves to my elbows, and lift my shirt so my abdomen was exposed, told me to relax, and started sticking the needles in. I was a bit freaked out, so I closed my eyes. I didn't see him do it, but I swear, I could hardly feel the needles. It felt like a cross between a tap, and a mosquito bite. He put some celtic music on (I thought that was strange, I expected some asian style music, but it was relaxing)and dimmed the lights and left the room. All of the sudden I felt a "electric shock" feeling in my left toe. I looked, and the needles were not even in my toe, but in the tops of both feet. I started to feel buzzing feelings in my thighs, and I had no needles there, they were in my shins and around my ankles. It was crazy. There was a single needle in my abdominal area in the center, lots on my elbows, a few in my wrists, and one on the top of each hand. Eventually, they all had a buzzing, zinging feeling, and then all of the sudden, I felt relaxed (but still buzzing). He came back after about a half hour, and started to take them out. I told him I felt a lot of buzzing in my thighs where there were no needles and he said "yes, thats what happens" I asked him what exactly I was treated for and he said horomonal imbalance and acute anxiety, and it will take a few once a week sessions to get my period back on track, maybe throughonly one cycle, some poeple take more. So, I am going back Sat. I don't know exactly what happened, but this has been my best day in weeks, so hey, whatever works, right?! Sorry this is so long, I just wanted to put the details in in case anyone was wondering what an acupuncture session might be like!
