Yes it is a funny name. It really means what it says. The walls of the gut have become somewhat porous. They allow larger molecules of food to pass through to the bloodstream. These larger molecules are seen by the immune system as invaders. The immune system reacts by treating them as allergens. The results are different in individuals. It may seem as a food allergy ; but you are not really allergic to that food. It is deceptive; because the next time it will be a different food. The consequences can be pretty bad for some people.
