I think were suppose to get real drunk at the end of the day on Dec. 31, because the earth went around the sun again.
Is anybody else familiar with this ritual?-

I usually celebrate another 365 day or
thereabout swing around the Sun on my
birthday, since it is more personal.
New Years...I will do a ritual where I
write all the things down I want to
jettison from last year, and burn it.
Then I will write my resolutions and
goals for the New Year, and put them
under my pillow to sleep on it.
A bottle of champagne is also usually
enjoyed, and here in Texas, it seems
the shooting of guns is also an accepted
ritual of bringing in the New Year.
I plan on popping off a few fireworks
since I have forgotten how to load a
gun...ggg.

I don't know how accurate that is, though. Lately, I think I've swung around it more than once in a day!!!
As for bubbly, I'd sure like to get a hold of a bottle of this lady's joy juice!
And I might have to settle for swillin' back some cough syrup or something! Already knocked off the last of the vanilla extract!! And mouth wash has too much of a bite!!!

This is a reply to # 1,071,527I've heard about that drinking in celebration of having perceived the earth going around the sun....and actaully participated for several years. But that was then, this is now....and it's amazaing how one's perception changes when sober. I now celebrate the sun's rotation around the earth :)

This is a reply to # 1,072,121That's some interesting CGI....right down to the nipples standing at attention...those left-brainers think of everything, don't they?
I must be in a right-brain dominant mood. Looking at the main sylhouette, I only see a clockwise rotation, but, if I imagine a change of perspective, like, looking at the shadow of the foot, or, pretending I'm the floor looking up at the revolving body, then it is of course rotating counter clockwise.... clockwise, now there is an interesting relative view. People always imagine looking at the clock on the wall and perceive it's hands normally moving clockwise but imagine you are the wall and then which direction are the hands moving?

I remember reading about a discussion on how a persons IQ cannot be changed.
I think its Psychology that states this.
And the argument was that yes a persons IQ can be changed. It can be raised or lowered.

This is a reply to # 1,072,137Yeah, that is so true. A former drinking buddy would often come up to me after a night inside a bar and say "lets go out to the car and get stupid". A different buddy would often wake up in the morning and in that period of exceptional hungover'ness would somewhat feebly say "boy, it's mornings like this that I'm really glad I'm not a sober person". Of course I'd ask - what do you mean?. He'd say "well, as this day goes on, I know I'm eventually going to start feeling a whole lot better... but when a sober person wakes up on a Saturday morning, they are already feeling about as good as it's gonna be".
That "can't change IQ" line from Psych is about as good as the one they invented that says a person under hypnosis cannot be made to do anything against their will, HA HA ! Forget the booze factor. Anyone who needs convinced that a person's IQ can be lowered, and often times instantaneously so, only needs to observe otherwise intelligent people who often get sucked into believing the kinda of stuff Psychology comes up with.- Re: Anybody celebrating the suns rot... #48688

This is a reply to # 1,072,056I will be meditating the New Year in, this year...sober. It will be my 3rd New Year that I will not be partaking of alcohol to celebrate the sun's rotation around the earth. As you mention, OH, "I now celebrate the sun's rotation around the earth :)". No additives included :D.
May this New Year bring peace, love, joy into everyone's lives! May we bring to each other the Truth so that we find the peace we need to co-exist in this world! Here's to another Sun rotation around the Earth!
