me1101,
I am going to answer your post since until now I have not been involved with this process, so I stand a good chance of giving you an unbiased opinion. No global moderator, and much less the Webmaster, likes to ban anyone. Banning occurs only when a poster shows repated violation of the posting guidelines; and the biggest rule, besides spamming, is not attacking anyone personally on Support forums. Spidna has demonstrated more than just differences of opinion, but a propensity to bait and attack other posters repeatedly. There are ways to express differences even on Support forums, but if anyone has an offensive approach, then they are better off keeping to debate forums.
People often comment how angry Curezone sounds and how they are afraid to send other people on to this website. Perhaps what is not readily seen is the fact that many other boards on the internet excersice a great deal more active moderation than Curezone. In a poll taken by the Webmaster some months back, the majority here expressed a desire to see even less interference from moderators. Although there might be new moderators on CZ that seem to be a little more heavy handed sometimes, the majority, and especially global mods who have been around a long while, interfere only when absolutely necessary. This is why a lot more "negative" stuff is evidenced here than on many other boards. The tremendous platitude in accomodating all flavors of opinions brings just that and then some.
Popularity votes are not the way that a poster who has been banned in re-instated. Sometimes the Webmaster considers the case and decides to un-ban a person in a week or two. Other times not, it all depends on his call. I would say a good letter of apology and an honorable promise to correct the offensive behavior can go a long way in melting the hearts of all Curezoners.. However, as we have seen over the years, a good many egos have declined this option.
I hope I've helped. Please read these other two posts for more clarification:
