You have to take the can that the sardines came in out right away because if you leave it in the garbage can in your kitchen it stinks up the whole house. You have to drain and flush the water or oil that they were packed in right away with lots of water unless you enjoy smelling a big stink. What they do after you eat them? Do they rot and stink in your intestines too? I would think something that is that good wouldn't stink at all.- Re: Why do sardines stink so much if... moreless

Answer: Maybe one should ask "WHY" White Sugar tastes so Good, yet is "Poison" to the body ?
And one could go on about many other "Junk" foods that taste sooo good, yet are "Killing" us, when we choose to eat them ?

Answer: In Nature everything must be able to Decay into Organic matter for the cycle of Life to go on !
Is it so odd that sardines would be able to do the same thing ?
The rotten smell that you are smelling after the can has been sitting around for awhile is just the Natural process of the cycle of Life taking place !
If they did not Rot and Decay, then the body may not Digest them properly ?
When folks talk about eating a Tender steak, what do you think has happened to this steak to Tenderize it ?
The Bacteria have begin to Decay the Meat and make it Tender, is all that may be taking place, and you just eat it before it is all processed by the Bacteria into Decayed matter !
How about that for food for thought ?

I think sardines are partially rotting (digested) like fermentation ,like a dog will take a piece of raw meat and partially burries it in the sun and watches over it while it rots ,waiting for it to sweetin up allowing those tiny little friendly (to a dog) bacteria to help digest it and allow it to be much more beneficial and digestible!
Sardines remind me of when you gut a fish and the gut is filled with small fish all soft and pliable like a sardine(little fish)! One of the Guiness book of records oldest men 120 I beleive, ate nothing but sardines and pickled hard boiled eggs, basically predigested foods!
I think these partially digested foods have many benefits without using much our bodies energy to assimilate them!
Or something like that,hope this makes sense to others!

This is a reply to # 1,042,145In the US we tend to be ruined by all the professionally processed foods we Are exposed to. In other countries they are exposed to foods from childhood we might consider unpalatable, yet they are extremely healthy foods. Exposure to different foods with an open mind is by far the best way to adjust to unfamiliar foods. Our grandparents ate every part of the animal, including the brains, feet ears and all of pigs, as well as the liver. We are ruined by modern processed foods and are the worst for it.
