Hi Rygar
You know, Boldyloxx is soo right: Certain fats are the key to easing/controling the extreme highs and lows of bipolar-ness...:)
I recently read a book called "The Miraclce of Omega Oils", don't know if you've heard of it.
In it, they studied people with different disorders, and anywhere from 2-4 (which is 24-48 1 gr cap of oil, if I remember correctly) Tablespoons of Flaxseed Oil per day(in divided doses)made people purrr like kittens,
BUT anything less was not therapeutic, and anything more caused adverse reaction-symptoms got more intense(and people had a tendency to up the doses, thinking more is better).
Anyway, I took a 1 cap of Omegas 3Xday for months and had no noticable resutlts, BUT when I started taking 4 caps per meal with a Lecithin cap to absorb the Oils better, I started feeling the Oils working.
It produces a wonderful calming feeling(I went from feeling "impending doom" to "all is well").
So, now I'm taking the dose above plus Borage Oil caps 2-4 gr a day, plus Salomon Oil 3X daily also 2 gr Evening Primrose Oil at bedtime- get up without the headache I used to have each morning.
If you're feeling better on high protein -fat diet, I bet you'd feel great on these wonderful, healing vegatable oils- all fats are not created equal, you know.
Anyway, I salute you for being so strong-willed in dealing with your symptoms, but you really should explore some forms of nutritional healing, so you can ease up some of the intensity of the highs/lows.
Cheers
