i am very sorry indeed to hear that you have to have your uterus taken out - it may be that they want to put you on hormones after that anyway, so your case may be a little different to the norm. The sorts of side effects that people might feel they need progesterone, or some other further treatment for, would include all the usual side effects that people get from mirena, which are on this forum in people's posts:) Everything from
Depression to hair loss,
Acne to joint pain - there are a myriad of symptoms out there - but as i said in my other post, not everyone would need to take the cream option - many people will just get better after mirena, and so that would be the end of the story. But if they still are having problems after some months, then it is just something that they can consider researching more into. In my case, quite apart from my recurring side effects,(my main ones being numbness all down my left side, and acute head pains), the whole reason for getting the mirena was to stop my continual bleeding due to a thickened uterus and polyps. I had the polyps out but they came back lol. Reading more about estrogen dominance on the internet i see that the original polyps i had, may well have been due to estrogen dominance anyway, so for me, it is worth trying the cream, not only to try and help with the symptoms i have now, but to avoid the polyps and thickened uterus problems of the past - the only alternative my gyn. can offer me would be more synthetic hormone treatment or a hysterectomy - neither of which i want, so i am hoping the natural progesterone cream will help, along with a low estrogen diet and other supplements. Conditions such as endometriosis etc are supposed to be helped by natural progesterone too, according to what i have read. If you go to the following web link, you will see some of the basic side effects that mirena can cause - in as well as out! Not everyone gets side effects, it is just that the ones that do get them, usually find their way to this forum..

And if you google Dr.Lee and estrogen you will come up with lots of sites which give you side effects of too much estrogen or too little natural progesterone in the system and which can be helped by increasing the natural progesterone. One can get hormone tests too of course which will help to monitor the situation and if one has a doctor who is open minded then ideally it could all be done through the doc. Heater, one of the other regular posters on here has done some research on the hormone tests as well as estrogen dominance and it seems that the saliva test is the most effective at getting an accurate result. However, if you are having your uterus taken out, then your doctor may have other suggestions for you, so see how it goes and how you feel. I do hope that all goes well for you and wish you good health for your future:) x
