I am going to get on the phone
as soon as I can with Tech Support
for Olympus Camera.
I love this company.
I brought a second C5050 a couple
weeks before the Organic Trade Association Reception 2007,
and a FL20 Flash.
I dropped my first C5050 about three weeks ago
while shopping at Whole Foods Hillcrest.
I was carrying it in my cart.
Banged the battery compartment, and could
no longer hold in the energy.
Amanda at the West Coast Cypress Repair facility
came to my aid and zipped it through
with a few days. She even adjusted the price
being that my repair was minor.
I got the camera back in a timely fashion.
I have had the C5050 for more than three years.
I still find things about it that I am discovering.
I have mastered the close up lens and love this.
I am still learning more and more about the flash.
I am disappointed in the recovery time between shots.
It does not work well in a professional situation for
me as last Thursday for the OTA. I was on stage
and wanted to take a lot of photos.
Some came out with results less than I had hoped.
I am going to send them to Olympus and see if they can
help me zero in on what I need to learn to do better.
If necessary I will get another kind of camera for
this flash conditions that are extremely difficult.
The ballroom, where we do honor our guests with the most
delicous foods prepared by incredible chefs,
is an extremely difficult low light and off lighting
space. I can hardly get the kind of photo I would like
of the chefs.
My favorite photo condition is natural light where I can
play with the natural hues and saturations of the garden.
I have had bees land on my photos.
Under these artifical conditions, I still have room for
improvement, but I am committed to master this.
I get a good share of excellent shots under low light,
but not every shot is what I want. In the next year,
I am going to correct this. I see some blur in some
of my photos. I am not sure what needs to improve.
Any coaches out there? I am definitely calling up my friends
at Olympus. More than likely they will get me in the "Perfect"
results range that satisfies clients and Your Enchanted Gardener.
This year, I kept the Host Committee on stage longer.
My next year, I will have perfected use of the External Flash
I bought a few weeks before this assignment.
Part of my shot list included the tables of the marvelous
donors. Many of the tables were empty when I came by.
Likely everyone was visiting the Chefs. There were six stations
of the most wonderful food.
I talked to Beth, one of the Chefs about going to her
kitchen so I can have time to really get the kind of food shots
that are equal to the Chef's artistry.
Attempting to get these onsite photos under such difficult
lighting conditions does not allow me to show off the artistry
of some of the most creative chefs who come for OTA's gala Reception
at the Natural Product Expo West.
It is a great honor to work with the OTA and their staff.
This year, I personally carried two trays of Joe Rodriguez, Jr.
fresh picked berries up to Aramark, who host the kitchen.
The berries were so popular that I was not even sure if they made
it out to the table. I called this morning my new friend
Leann Cragwell who personally carried up the berries to the
third floor kitchen. She attested that the berries got to the
set up, but obviously were so popular that by the time
I got there with my camera, there were all gone!
All that was there was a vew backup berries, very large
and sent generously from another donor--Thank you so much,
but there is no comparison between berries hand delivered
and picked the day before, and berries picked early to allow
for packages and days of warehousing.
I wanted to get many more photos of individuals at tables.

I appreciated the times when Lori introduced
me to people I did not see.
Next year, I am going to ask her to stay with me
longer to meet special folks.
I spent time hooking Joe up for a record
of his meeting with Jim Tripp of the Anaheim Convention
Center.
The Natural Food Merchandiser featured a story on its
front page last issue of Jim helping the Center go
more organic and local. Joe was a perfect match!
Chef William Smith 111 was also very excited about
the peppermint and oregano I brought.
I got a wakeup call--literally at 5 AM this morning.
He wanted to tell me how excited he was having
a fresh herb garden right there on site. This
is a Seed Dream I had a number of years ago.
Jim Tripp and William were very excited.
Joe is ready to go to help put one in in containers
for Aramark.
In years' past, Joe was growing organic herbs,
but this was one of the crops he stopped growing
because most of us only know salt and pepper.
Hopefully, provided William Smith with a fresh
organic herb garden on site will spark new interest
in culinary herb use. What a great fulfillment.
My Seed Dream for OTA is to provide
at least 50 images of people at the tables
and in the food lines.
This will take a lot of focus, and time,
and having a staff person from OTA guiding me
around to more of the host committee and staff.
It takes a lot of eyes to do this job.
I also realize--I am going to need to get
some eyeglasses for this event.
One of my after the fact insights is that
each of the Host Committee on stage was at a table,
I did not see any of them at their tables, literally.
As a goal, I want to visit each of those tables.
The theme of this year's OTA Reception was
"Celebrating the Bounty of Organic Farms."
At one point, I called for the farmers to gather on stage.
Next year, this needs to be a part of the program.
The one farmer I knew was joe. He shows up in a lot
of photos...There is a definite celebration of the bounty
of one farmer for the record!
The OTA had a wonderful loop powerpoint of farmers.
Lisa Carey of OTA worked on that. Two of my images were
included, one of Joe and one of Sammy, his niece.
The Organic Center, the following night,
had a major theatrical production
with Video's and Powerpoints. I was pleased
with the way my Super Ripe Images were used in both
the Video and loops. When Walter Robb, CEO of Whole Foods
Market was calling attention to the berries and acknowledging
Joe, one of my strawberry photos was in on the screen.
At least five-seven close ups were in the loop
presentation made by Amy Bovaird. The most exciting
visual of mine in the Video was a slow motion scan
of spinach that I shot at the request of Amy Summers
of Pinch, Inc. She is part of the Organic Center Publicity
team.

At the Organic Center Fundraiser, March 9,
I was a backup photographer. They had
at least two other photographers who MEGA large
photo equipment who do photography as a full time
all the time job.
I am getting to know some of these wonderful
Heart and Soul companies by appearance who are members
of the Host Committee that helps raise funds each year
for OTA. I continued to get more heartfelt photos
as I create more personal relationship
with the people who are in the photos.
This year I made new friendship with Julia Sabin,
