Day 2 of Juice Fast
Must be memory loss...

Pretty pathetic as I'm a writer by trade BUT I do have to say that I've been reading the blogs on juice fasting on this website for some time and they helped me when I popped my fasting cherry. My first juice fast was last February ('06). It came about in a strange way. I was referred to this crazy Korean acupuncturist when I sprained my neck for the umpteenth time and saw a pamphlet in her office for "guaranteed weight loss" via fasting. I asked her about it and went for it.
Since I met my fiancé I had gained TWENTY pounds! Former skinny punk rock goddess turned housewife- I was devastated. SO- I started my ten day fast with my crazy Korean and have been DYING to do it again ever since... until I started my second fast yesterday. Oy! I don't remember it being this hard the first few days! I remember day 5 completely sucking, but day 1? I made it through day one and now day 2 (it's 8pm and I need to go make some tea), but something's really got me puzzled. NO BM's. And I mean NO BM's! I'm doing everything the same, taking the colon cleanser, the laxatives at night, drinking water like I'm getting paid to do it-- and nothing. If anyone relates, let me know. I'm curious. That's day one and two in a nutshell- crazy food fantasies, wanting to smoke because- hey- it's not food! And really craving wine. Although I do love wine it kind of shocked me how badly I wanted it. That and salt and vinegar chips. Mmmm. Oh and white cake which I thought was weird. I don't eat cake really. Anyway back on track! I we'll see if the next day brings anything... like a BM. I might up my lax dose tonight. Famous last words!
I lost 14 lbs my first ten day fast and kept 8 of it off so far (started working out with a trainer so gained muscle). I wonder how much I'll lose this time... if any. Getting hitched in a month- it BETTER work. But the funny thing is, after experiencing my first fast, I couldn't wait for my second and not because of weight loss but because of the AMAZING clean, clear feeling (I feel like an Irish Spring commercial). But really I feel like colors are brighter, I can see further, I can make decisions more easily, my skin is awesome (I have psoriasis and the ONLY time it has wholly cleared up was during my first fast), I feel SKINNY (obviously), but yeah- those are the reasons that brought me back to the fast. De ja vu. I hope they kick in soon...
Good luck to all the other fasters! If that's even a word...
