Days 1-4
Summary of days 1-4 and a whole lot of questions! :)
Date: 7/24/2006 7:54:06 AM ( 18 y ) ... viewed 2646 times I've been meaning to write about the start of my fast but I'm a born procrastinator! Hehe. But here's a summary..
I started this fast on July 20. Everyday I drink juice every 2 hours. I decided to time my juices because it's easier and much more doable for me. I am also following what a friend of mine suggested, fruit in the morning and vegetables in the evening. Why? I have no idea. If anyone knows, please tell me. :)
Days 1-3 were pretty okay. I was expecting it to be difficult from what I read from others blogs but I didn't experience any cleansing reactions. I didn't even experience hunger pains. I'm thinking maybe I got used to it because sometimes I would have periods of not eating for a day just because I don't feel like it. But I had a semi-bad experience on day 2, I think. I juiced radish and garlic together! I didn't double-check with the list from dazzle's blog about "Healing Vegetables" and since they're both strong-tasting vegetables, I almost vomited after taking just a sip. And it left a warm feeling all throughout my throat and stomach. Thinking about the taste.. Eww..
Day 4 was when I felt a slight reaction. I woke up feeling nauseated so I slept it off. And during the day I experienced some dizziness and headaches. To try to make myself feel better, since I felt lighter, I checked my weight. On Day 1, I weighed 120lbs (I'm 5'0"), and on Day 4 I weighed 114lbs. Wow. That's the quickest that I've lost some weight. Though I know I can't hope to lose about 2lbs per day all throughout this fast, I'm hoping to get to a decent enought weight when I get to day 21. I don't know if having my period contributed to the quick weight loss or what.. Because the day before I started the fast I had my period. Does anybody know what a period does to the body when fasting?
From days 1-4, I've only had one two bowel movements.. I'm starting to think I should do something about it.. I don't want to do an enema since I did colemas on the island (read my introduction), and it's something that I don't really feel like doing again. I've read from the blogs about stuff like Oxy-something, but since I have no job right now so I'm strapped for cash, and there is a only a limited number of health food stores here, I'm thinking of drinking this slimming tea which I know is a herbal laxative. It says it contains senna leaves and pods. Do you think that could do the trick?
I guess it seems pretty obvious I'm new to alternative medicine and things like that. :) But from what I've been reading, it's really enlightening and it's something that I hope can teach me to have a healthier lifestyle the correct way. :) I hope you guys could answer my questions. Thanks!
