First Reiki Attunement
Experince of my Reiki I Attunement.

Qigong is something that we all know about, but few will have the time, the interest, or the discipline to practice. (Not to mention that martial arts studios are traditionally associated with the Triads, just not something that "good kids" want to meddle with.) With that background, energy healing has always been a mistery to me. I know it can be done, but I was also led to believe that it takes years and years of practice to cultivate the ability.
Last March, however, I found out that it was nothing further than the truth.
The ability to use chi, to move chi and to heal with chi is innate. Afterall, as long as we are alive we are moving chi unconsciously. It is just most of us haven't recongnise that fact and start exploring the potential. My first healing experience was with Quantum Touch. I read the book in one night, practiced it for a little bit the next day, didn't feel much of anything since I was not (and still am not) energy sensitive. Yet one the third day I was laying hands on my co-worker getting rid of his sinus headache. His pain was gone in ten minutes, and I was in awe! (Gee, it doesn't take ten years of practice to do that?!)
After that, I've been looking into other energy healing modalities. I read any book I can get my hands on. I'd like to go to workshops but there weren't any in my town. I cannot travel due to family obligations. So I was pretty much stuck.
In my attempt to learn more about energy healing, I stumbled on to a number of Reiki websites that offer distance attunement. Now I believe in nonlocality. I believe that intention and chi can transcend time and space. With that said, getting distance attunement still...sounds a little shaky. But I thought, oh, well, either it works or it doesn't, it is an experience. If I don't try, I'll always be wondering about it.
I found a website by Shaman Maggie(http://www.shamanelder.com). She is a shaman and also a Usui Reiki Master. I know there are people offering free attunements now, but since Maggie's course is quite affordable, and her lineage is only fifth from Dr. Usui, also her attunement is individualized (not group), I think it may work out better, if it works.
Okay, maybe I should add, I know about self-attunement, and also attunement on video, and I've tried both. I didn't feel anything during any of those. I never feel chi that much anyways, so these atunements may have worked, or may not, I can't say. And I certainly haven't been able to do more healing with them either.
Okay, back to the Reiki I attunement. I received it on Monday morning. For half an hour I meditated. I am not a visual person, and I always had problem getting into the meditative state and emptying my mind. This time, to my surprise, images started floating in and out vividly. For a moment I actually "saw" flowing water around me, as if I was floating in a stream. Then all of a sudden I felt a pain in my throat, like being pierced by a needle (just for a split second), and I felt energy drained down from my head through the throad to my chest. At the end of the attunement I felt a flush of energy from the crown all the way down my body. It felt really good!
Now I haven't actually done any significant healing yet, but just the fact that I FELT something says a lot. It certainly gives me confidence in the process. Right after the attunement, Shaman Maggie emailed to informed me that it was done, and that Dr. Usui (spirit?) did some extra work on my left hand and left foot, and ask me if that meant anything. Well, I don't know about the left hand, but I banged my left ankle on the staired two days before and didn't take care of it. It was not seriously hurt but certainly was some pain there. By the end of the attunement that pain was gone. (Yet I have a big area of bruise on my right knee from an earler injury that didn't get taken care of...strange, why the left ankle but not the right knee? Because the ankle is more serious?)
Anyway, since the attunement I have felt more at ease and less edgy, which is a true blessing. I seem to feel more energy in my hands now, more tingling. The long-term effect of Reiki has yet to be seen. And of course, it is a way of life, not like "what Reiki can do for me" but "what I can do with it for others". Afterall, no matter what the modality, the essense of healing is still LOVE.
