In the 1960-70's people were not satisfied with the establishment, society, the war, the government. People were protesting everywhere about everything! We had anti war songs, peace songs, civil rights songs. People were about change...change for the better!
Now, it seems that a massive inertia has set in and we are numb to all those inequities that were so troublesome to us in the past. Are we immune to those issues now? Have we become so self centered that we no longer care? Have we decided that it isn't worth our efforts? Or are we disgusted with the eroding of all we gained?
Are we so robotic that we are happy to accept anything and everything the establishment tells us? n That even when faced with insurmountable evidence that we have been lied to, we just shrug our shoulders and ignore it?
Are we so drugged by the mainstream media that we hide our eyes from the ever increasing stories that point to errors in our views?
More and more polls show that a majority of people are unhappy with the way things are going, unhappy with being sold down a path that they feel they have no voice in determining. Yet, where are the outspoken voices? Where are the demonstrations? Where are the protest songs? Where are the leaders that are willing to show us a different way?
Has freedom become an ugly word? I recently saw a program that showed a woman 9 from Texas) objecting to a sign that simply said "peace". She thought that the idea of PEACE was undemocratic and that we needed war!!
WOW! This blew mw away! Is the idea of Peace now considered to be radical?
Has freedom become an ugly word? Are we doomed to kenosis which is the draining away of the spiritual ...( not the religious/dogmatic).
Is it now all about money? Are there no ethics? Do all ends justify any means?
( and WHOSE ends?) Whose values? Are there really any values? Thee seems to be plenty of talk about values...shouted from pulpits and governmental campaigns. However they are quick to state that THEIR values, THEIR views are the only ones to have. Anyone who differs should be shut up.
Yes, you can have freedom to think whatever you want...as long as you agree with them. Everyone else is an enemy. Well, that didn't work very well in the 1950"s when McCarthy was raging about ruining people's lives with his self proclaimed freedom...freedom from whoever he thought was an enemy. His perversions ran rampant in the country just as the "security" issue is running amuck now. If things keep on the way they are going, McCarthy will seem like a Saint. Meanwhile we sit in our comfortable homes, clucking about the way things are, and not doing anything about it.
What happened to Utopia? Have we forgotten about an ideal society? Do we even entertain the thought that one could exist? Or in all the usurping of our civil rights and blatant lies that we are told, have we given up the idea that a utopia could exist?
