Iraqi women have been stripped off the basic human rights under the merciless occupation
The BUSH administration constructed many false pretexts and downright lies to justify its interference in the Middle East, region, among its claims was the mission to “liberate women”. “Liberation of women” had always been a common rationale in its effort to win the support of Western nations for its brutal foreign policy.
The U.S.-led occupation forces overthrew the former Iraqi regime lead by Saddam Hussein in April 2003 claiming that it was for the welfare of the Iraqi nation that Bush’s admin says has been subject to hideous human rights violations at the hand of its dictator ruler.
Contrary to what the U.S. government repetitively claims, Mafkarat Al Islam reported that the U.S. Marines in IRAQ stormed a house in the at-Ta’mim neighborhood of western Ramadi, IRAQ, last Tuesday, in the course of their “Rams” offensive, asking the house holder about rebels his is protecting, their whereabouts, and their names. But the man refused to giver them answers for their questions, simply because he doesn’t know.
Thus, the Marines threatened to strip his wife naked in front of him if he didn't speak, but the man still refused to talk, saying he had no answer for their questions. So they carried out their threat, ripping off his wife’s clothing and gazing at her naked body in front of the husband, who was bound at the time, the paper correspondent said, adding that the brother of the householder said that the Marines left the house after his brother collapsed seeing his wife standing naked in front of the men.
The Marines left in a hurry from the area after their crime, Mafkarat Al Islam correspondent stated, comparing “the mood in the city to a boiling cauldron”.
It’s amazing how the U.S. government keeps lying about promoting and defending democracy and human rights, when it’s the world’s leading human rights violator. The series of uncovered scandals about the actions of the U.S. military in Iraq challenge every lie the Bush admin told in the run up to war.
Numerous human rights organizations had accused the U.S. of carrying out war crimes and serious human rights violations in IRAQ. However the American President and his administration had never been held accountable.
The ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein, whom the U.S. refers to as “dictator” and “tyrant”, might have been a brutal ruler, but the Iraqi women were better off during his era, they were at least assured the right to participate in Iraq's public life. They had considerable freedom of movement; they went to school, participated in the professions, they participated in the government and businesses.
But since the U.S. deposed Saddam, women in Iraq feel less safe.
Dr. Ron Paul, a Republican member of Congress from Texas, once wrote that “Whenever the administration is challenged regarding the success of the IRAQ war, or regarding the false information used to justify the war, the retort is: ‘Aren’t the people of Iraq better off?’”
The Iraqi nation’s suffering has absolutely increased under the merciless occupation and a prove for that is the scandals and crimes committed by the occupation troops we hear about everyday.
