The Fence Post # 5
Are we along here on Earth, isolated from the rest of the Universe? The late UFO psychologist John Mack didn't think so.

Our dreams and visions are taking on different textures, different sensations of “inner” reality, and are no longer allowing us to take these unusual states of awareness as pathological events of the psyche. No, they are more real than this computer on my desk. The late medical doctor and UFO researcher Dr. John Mack addresses this in a lecture he gave on November 16, 2003, in Florence, Italy, entitled “Establishing a New Science of Human Experience:"
"...But there is something missing in what we have to evaluate or determine when a person tells us a story so bizarre whether he/she is telling the truth and whether we should take them seriously. But as yet we have had no criteria to evaluate the truth of such encounters. So I am working on just this and I'm just beginning to establish a science of Human Experience.
Now in traditional science when we observe certain phenomenon, we bring some objectivity to what we have studied. But when you are trying to understand something so profound and important to a person you can not stand back but you must enter into the consciousness of that person. So what the critics will say "what you are learning is too subjective" here is the problem: if you are going to learn about something this profound, then the learning needs to be "intersubjuctive."
So still there is the problem of discovering the truth. If I say it just feels like they are telling the truth, then this is not enough. So we have to start with the "holistic way of knowing". This is close to what we know as intuitive knowing. It is like a knowing of the heart (ital. mine) and a knowing of the spirit that has been part of traditional cultures for hundreds and thousands of years but has been lost in the west." It is as though the time has come for us to wake up to the fact we are not these “isolated” individuals in flesh and bones. We are much more. The worlds we inhabit are grander than this physical globe of planet Earth. Yet, all is connected, and our work here on planet Earth has profound implications for all that surrounds us, and is within us; implications that are a result of our work in the “inner” worlds that we all participate. And it is working within this “knowing of the heart” that we can consciously move towards not only understanding the greater world that we share as a species, but also understand the inner reality from which all of this springs.
