It is very important that we as believers in Christ to look after our bodies with God given wisdom. We need to look after our temples where the Holy Spirit resides.

Soda Pop According to the National Soft Drink Association (NSDA), consumption of soft drinks is now over 600 12-ounce servings (12 oz.) per person per year. Since 1978, soda consumption in the US has tripled for boys and doubled for girls. Young males age 12-29 are the biggest consumers at over 160 gallons per year—that’s almost 2 quarts per day. At these levels, the calories from soft drinks contribute as much as 10 percent of the total daily caloric intake for a growing boy. Not to mention other side effects such as too much phosphorus which causes "bone decay", stimulants which can cause nervous problems and violent behaviour, excess sugar in some colas there can be as much as 30 - 40 teaspoons of sugar in one can of soda! Sugar is the number one cause of lowered immunity, not too mention tooth decay and empty calories. Another reason to stay away from pop is that it can cause increased GI distress from excess gas to heart burn. 2. Trans Fats Many of the random compounds created when oils are hydrogenated are so called "trans fats" or, more correctly, trans-fatty acids. These are un-natural compounds. Hydrogenated vegetable oils with their trans fats components are responsible for the significant increase in Heart Disease and Cancer as these compounds are toxic to the human body and should be avoided at all costs. Some foods that contain trans fats are: Pastries and cakes French fries, potato chips, Doughnuts, Cookies, Crackers, heavily processed Chocolate, Margerine, Shortening, Fried chicken and other fried breaded meats, 3. Refined Flour This is where through heavy processing they remove the bran and germ from the grain which yields white flour. The bran is the protective outer layer, which is high in fiber and rich in protein. The germ is the part of the seed that actually sprouts, and is rich in vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids. When you remove those two important parts of the grain you have an incomplete food, and the white flour will turn quickly to sugar like substance inside the body when consumed. When this happens the body quicly converts the empty calories it to fat cells - Need I say more? 4. Coffee This popular drink that people sometimes base their lives around is made from the coffee been which due to high demand is heavily processed and chemical laden with herbicides and pesticides. If that isn't enough, coffee has a very high caffiene content which can cause anxiety, heart palpitations, increased blood pressure, pshycosis. Coffee drinkers are usually deficient in Vitamin C and Calcium. 5. Fast Food This popular time saving comodoty is an extreme detriment to health because of the high trans fat content, high calories, and sometimes can give the consumer 40 grams of fat and 1500 calories with one meal! Not to mention the fact that all fast foods contain MSG (neuro-toxin), artificial flavors and colors! And to top that all off the fast foods contain zero nutrition. So why should we eat fast food meals? 6. White Sugar The average American eats over 120 pounds of refined sweeteners per year. In fact, almost 25% of the total calories consumed are sugar. Of the 120 pounds of refined sweeteners ingested each year, 70% can be found in manufactured foods. For example, there is more sugar in some breakfast cereals than in candy. Today, sugar can be found not only in desserts and snack foods but also in such unlikely foods as canned vegetables and fish, most baby formulas and some baby foods. White sugar is easily absorbed and pours into the bloodstream in amounts that the body is not geared to handle, causing wear and tear on the system as the body rushes to adjust its metabolic balance. 7. Aspartame The multi-billion dollar aspartame industry would like you believe that "aspartame kills" is an "urban legend" and that you'd have to drink 100 cans of diet soda a day to be harmed by aspartame. Aspartame in fact causes obesity, so your diet sodas are no healthier than their sugary counterparts! Aspartame is an excitoxin and neuro-toxin and breaks down in unstable enviroments into formaldahyde. Some of the symptoms of aspartame use are: headache, cancer, brain tumor, Multiple Sclerosis, ALS, weight gain, seizures, fatigue, nervousness, mood problems, and the list goes on. I encourage anyone to read food labels and don't consume anything that contains aspartame! 8. Saturated Fats Research shows that saturated fats increase the risk of heart disease, and possibly some cancers. These fats raise cholesterol levels which can cause fatty deposits, to be deposited in the coronary arteries because of weakening of those vessels. These can eventually restrict blood flow to the heart muscle and various areas of the body. Saturated fats are found primarily in red meat, butter, whole milk, cheese and cream. 9. Food Coloring, Preservatives and Artificial Flavors These are all non food items added to processed foods to enhance the visual quality of the food and make it look "appealing" to the eye. However these additives have been associated with increased occurances of Attention Deficit Disorder, Hyperactivity, cancers, headache, and various nervous system conditions. Another warning not to consume packaged processed foods.
10. Luncheon Meats, Hot Dogs & Sausages Theses processed meats are very dangerous and contain nitrates, MSG, and various parts of an animal that you would normally not eat! Not to mention that most processing plants are filthy, and who knows what gets ground up in their commercial meat grinders. There have been instances where labratories have found human and animal hair in these products as well as meat derived from mice and rats! Yuck!
