Day #3
Day number four of alkalizing diet.

Anyway, I am definitely detoxing. First let me give you a list of health problems I am trying to clear up, that I've been suffering with since age 24 (I'm 29 now):
* Chronic fatigue,
* A google plex food allergies/sensitivities
* digestive problems: bloating, gas, constipation
* yeast and parasites (multiple EDS screenings with different practitioners all came up with the same results, not to mention other practitioners who had other diagnostic techniques. I suppose it explains why whenever I consume anything with sugar in it I feel awful.)
* dark circles under eyes
* Poor fat digestion (I bloat and get very puffy from it.)
* Brain fog, spaciness
* Stubborn weight gain whenever meat is consumed!
* tingling/numbness in toes
So far, I have just been experiencing detox symptoms. I feel very fatigued, especially after taking in a very alkalizing meal or beverage. It's difficult to not be lazy at work! But I have to just force myself to keep moving all the time. (I work banquets at lots of hotels, and it's a very active job.)
I have to admit, I'm scared to take Robert O. Young's Prime PH. Last time I alkalized my system, I followed his program and wound up in the E.R. I almost died from low electrolytes! I was on a 100% alkalizing raw food diet plus his Supergreens program for only two weeks before this happened. I seriously think his Prime PH FORCES the body to dump acids, even if you don't have the mineral reserves to neutrilize them!
I learned that I need to SLOW DOWN the detoxing. Better to get there slower and safer. I think I can safely assume that I have more acids stored up in my body than the average Joe who can safely do his program with great results. The good news, was that while I was at the hospital, they weighed me and I had lost 20 lbs. and was at an ideal weight! Didn't even realize I was loosing weight (when NOTHING else had worked). Also, I had more energy, needed less sleep, the circles under my eyes cleared up after a lifetime of dark circles, digestion was improving, clear, soft beautiful skin, and just looking hot in general.
However, over the last year, I've slowly shifted back into a more acidic state. The last experimental Practitioner I saw told me my life depended upon eating RED MEAT. He said I was very deficient and I needed the red meat for my liver. So I did it for four days. Ever since I have felt awful and I've gained five lbs. It's hard for me to believe him when my body seems to reject the very idea of meat. And don't get me wrong, there was a span of time when I seriously stuck with trying to ween myself back into eating chicken and eggs again. Slowly my health just got worse and worse.
So now I've decided to just eat what my body tells me it needs, as restricted as it is. I have a sneaking suspicion it willl get less restrictive the longer I stick with it to maintain an alkaline state, however, in the beginning I need to be strict.
In order to stick with my diet, I made up a mind game (since I've been trying so hard to get back into this way of eating for awhile now and repeatedly find myself binging on raw sweets and deserts, and peanut butter --my biggest temptations.) In my mind, I now see myself trapped on a tropical island. All there is to eat on this island is the food I can eat with my alkalizing diet. On this island, there are things that look like food, but in reality, they are only poison. (Obviously, these are all the tempting foods around me that make my health worse).
So far this has helped me. Whenever I feel tempted by a food, I just imagine myself on my sunny tropical island and realize that there really ARE no options! I'm like Tom Hanks in that movie where he is stranded on an island and all he can eat is what the island offers him. It's easy to stay on a restricted diet when there simply isn't an option to not be on it! It's either eat this food, or die. That's how I am seeing this, and I think it's working.
I just can't wait to start feeling and looking better. Right now I feel like scum (from detox) and when I look in the mirror I see a puffy face with dark circles under the eyes. I can't wait for the beautiful foxy lady that I REALLY am to emerge once again! :) Just wonder how long the heavy detox period lasts before I start reåping the rewards...!
Until next time,
Anne
