3) The road to where or am I lost???
We travel, learn, and experience life, as road warriors.. It is the things we see that lead to our life of experience...

Well we had started on the first entry w. Mrs "O" Studebaker trip from south GA to St Pete Fla.... Lets jump up a few years to when i was approaching adolescence, in the sixth grade.... We had not had a car since they came and got the Ford back in GA, that DAD, have not payed for.... Well now Mom had divorced him when i was 10, one of the best things in years. There we were living in a two bedroom rental house with one of mother's sister Aunt Helen and her two children.... Ya that is six people in two bedrooms.... That was before DCFAS... Then there were times Aunt Helen's boyfriend Dan, later second husband was there, as well as Charlie, my soon to be stepfather.... So that makes eight... Then at Christmas, Great uncle Herman and Aunt Robbie would come down from GA and spend a couple of weeks... that's what you call a full house...
On with the story, we had bikes that Mrs "O" [Dads Mom].had bought us in GA year before last... We would ride down to Boca Ciaga Bay, [about a block away] to fish at Mrs Franchise's Dock.... Caught lots of fish there, kept us busy and started my love for the sea.... There was a small state/county park just up Park Street, where we could fish in a small freshwater pond... So we had the best of two worlds, fishing wise....
Once when my (18 mos younger) brother and I were coming back thru the park from fishing; Some people came running up the trail, yelling about a rattle snake.... Well I had fashioned a make shift fishing spear, by tying an old knife to the end of a wooden broom stick... Well I found the five foot Diamond back rattler coiled near the walkway at the base of some palmetto clumps.... using the homemade spear i stabbed the snake near the tail end, lucky for me, as it struck i was able to hold it back and drag it out so we could step on it and cut its head off.... The people though we were heros.... Maybe this was my first hero, medal.... It was almost as exciting as when I caught a big mullet on a hook a couple of weeks before... Life was good, and easy then..
Another time we were riding bikes and saw smoke coming from the woods.[ lots of woods there then] and a couple of men fighting the forest fire, well being a boy scout, I jumped right in an assisted fighting the Forrest fire... We stayed for several hours until the Fla State Forrest Dept came with a bulldozer and cut a fire break to contain the fire... It was hot!! Mother was really sore about how our shoes were ruined, and had to throw our cloths away because of the smoke smell....
This was just about the bike trips but even road warriors ride bikes sometimes... In fact I have a super Mt bike now, and ride it often, even years later...
There was another opportunity, when an we went down on the bay, with Ronnie Byrd, and found an abounded life raft that washed off some passing ship.. The SS Sulfur Queen, well to boys who loved the sea it spelled adventure... So off we went paddling out into the bay.... All was going well we crossed the little inlet (about a mile) and were coming back for further adventures... when Mom, who had never ever come down to the bay, walked out and saw us.... oops well she never let us do that again... Something about you boys could have been eaten by sharks....
Such was some of our actives .... To go downtown St Pete we had to walk down to Park St. and catch the once an hour bus... It took about forty five mins to get there... And we had to wait at a transfer point at Fifth Ave. North... Well that was nice, mom got us into the YMCA, [the real "Y"] not the song.... The "Y" was where i really learned to swim good and became a life guard... {good}... So we would get our allowance which was maybe a dollar each way back then... Take the bus to town, then, go to the "Y" swim, and some other activies... This is where i learned to put peanuts in a coke and drink and eat at the same time... Neat stuff for a 12 year old boy... { I still do it today if I get the chance..}
We would then go over to the Saturday Kids feature movie @ the Plaza Theater, where you got in and had popcorn and a coke for (i think about 25 cents...) After the movies we would go over to the 5 & dime store and get some thing( kite or model car) for about 10 cents... Ya I know it was cheaper then, so were payrolls.... {Min Wage was $1.25}
Going on into manhood... { Started noticing that while riding the bus, guess it was the motion, and/ or maybe some girls on the bus; with there shorts and skirts showing off panties... At certain times my maleness would begin to get firm and at this times would make me miss my stop, until things it settled down... Got to walk back a lot then...} This is where the man part started to come in.... My aunt had a boy and a girl who was about five years younger... Would get some glimpses of my female cousin from time to time in different states of undress, the young female body was new to me, as we had never lived in the same house with a girl before... I was starting to notice girls, had a kind of girlfriend, live behind us , she was nice... But I did not know exactly what we were suppose to do with girls excerpt look and try to talk to them.... [key word try...]
Well toward the end of the sixth grade ( I was 13) year we were through with class work at school, but had to be there to make some school official happy... Well they had allowed us to wear shorts to school that last week... There was a pretty blond, [ya I know she just happened to be blond.. that the way it was...] Well I was sitting there trying to talk to Sylvia and the Blond Hair Girl ( ya , I don't remember her name...shame on me) but I do remember her shorts.... They were yellow and real lose fitting around the legs... So when she was kind of swinging on her arms from the backs of two wooden desks on either side of the aisle, and it was then and there that; I got the view of my young mans life; as each time she swings forward, I saw her femininity via the wide legged shorts and loose fitting panties... There went my sexua| awaking.... I found why there were large pooched pleats in the front of boys pants.... To allow for expansion.... I could not get up and walk around for a while.... I knew right then and there was something more to girls than just playing tag and pushing them on a swing...
Well more on the travels of a road warrior.... Later!!
