What to do myself and what is pass along for someone else
to do, that is the question.
It was a topic of discussion at dinner at Rancho La Puerta
the other night.
It was Friday Night. Paris and I had finished our prep work
for World Environment Day. I had arranged for the Gates to Open
at nearby Rancho La Puerta.
Friday was about leaving San Diego, arriving in one piece,
checking in at Rancho Tres Estrellas, the Rancho La Puerta Farm,
making arrangement to with Anita to be able to come in late,
figuring out how to get three baskets of organic locally grown
food to display, checking in with Daniel at the nearby Parque de
Professor about the location where the EG Mobile would be parked
for our exhibit, and then, heading to Rancho La Puerta.
Every step of the way has its concerns.
Every step has necessary communications.
I could see as soon as I arrived at the Farm that
it was going to take a staff of five helpers to pull this off.
I came in with Paris and myself.
Paris had been having back pain all week.
He was being a trooper, but every time we went over
one of the speed bumps or holes in the dirt road,
We braced himself.
I knew Paris was in no condition to unload all the
things from the EG Mobile.
I had also prearranged three baskets of food to display
from Rancho Tres Estrellas.
I was in no shape to harvest, and even if I were
phyically able to do that, I did not know the location of foods that
grew at Rancho Tres Estrellas.
Paris was super sensitive about respecting
others. He is hypervigilant about giving and receiving.
He did not know my relationship with Salvadore,
the field manager, nor with Anita Boen the operations manager
for the farm. He only knew that was asking a lot.
I knew that I needed Salvadore's help.
Our Friendship goes back more than 15 years to the days
before he was married. Now he had a lovely wife and two children
who lived on the property.
He was planning to leave the farm early Saturday morning.
We arranged that he would help me early Saturday morning
before he left.

Things to write about:
1. How Deborah Szekely reviews her week.
She goes over her datebook, and sees what during
the week, someone else could have done, so she can
do more of what she needs to do. She realized there
is just so much she can take on herself. She knows
that she has to do things to "stay young." She knows
she has to build in "grandma time" with the kids, and
quality relationship time. Then there are all here
many projects and work that only she can do.
What I learned from this and how it pertains to
managing the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community.

3:05 AM
Arrive home very tired. Took a nap around five after unloading
some of EG Mobile. I was exhausted from the shock of the Border Crossing
and the damage done to the EG Mobile in attempting the Crossing
midday on a Sunday.
Paris and Angelene were preparing food.
The Cox Bill came in for
1. Cable and High Speed Internet.
2. Business phone.
It takes about 20 minutes at a minimum to do this every month.
The Cable bill is basically a split between three of us.
The internet a split between how many use the service.
I have to enter the amounts in the payment columns of Quicken.
Then, the call needs to be made.
Two accounts are involved. Cable comes out of personal account.
Internet comes out of Business.
Phone comes out of business.
Then Phone comes out of business account and has to be entered.
The Set up in quicken took about three hours, one time
to put this on auto-pilot.
I am sure someone could have done it faster.
There is no reason who I have to be the one doing the Cable
Split. There is no reason I have to be the one doing the Internet Split.
Someone else can do these.
Also, in this summer of reorganization, I want to get clear
about a free flow of assistance with Anna for previous rents owed
and discount on her space.
I need a personal assistant if I am going to succeed
at doing the work that only I can direct.
I need to be clear on what I need to do and and not do
myself.
If I continue to go unconscious about this need,
I will continue to cause myself and others stress
when it comes down to "Show Time."
If I go into "Show Time" unrested, I will likely
come over poorly and not be able to serve the people
at the event.
IF I go in stressed, I will be on a short fuse.
This does not make good workings with Co-helpersw
or paid staff.
Paid Staff are generally trades for work, cash payments,
or barters. At the event, there is general Volunteers
that I need to draw in and rely on. This can be problematic
if I am not in good shape. When I shine, volunteers will
gladly help becausea of the nature of the work.
___
How many hours have been involved doing this
for the year?
I want to hand the payment of Cable/ Internet to Phone
to someone else. There is no reason why I have to
be in charge of the Cable. Two others are getting this
service and about four others using the Internet.
How many hours would it take to create this to happen?
