Earth Day Needs Volunteers!
David Cohen of the San Diego Earth Day
came to my aid twice this past month
when the EG Mobile was unavailable to drive
The San Diego Earth Fair needs Volunteers.

This is a photo of my old ally David S. Cohen,
who now works for the San Diego Earth Day.
(L) is Joe Rodriguez Jr, AKA Joe the Farmer.
(R) is Joe Rodriguez Sr, AKA Papa Joe, elder
of the Fourth Generation California Family.
David is an extraordinary man, and I feel
very blessed to have had his help twice in the
last month when the EG Mobile was having showing
some odd behavoir, and then again, she she
was in the "Beauty Shop" get all pretty for her
2007 debut as part of the
"Sign a Love Letter to Joe/Plant Your Dream"
exhibit at the San Diego Earth Fair April 22.
I spent almost an entire week making sure that
the full page Ad that Whole Foods Market was
paying for was picture perfect. Joelle and I
the Whole Foods signmaker, had to burn the
beautiful ad onto a disk, and so I had to
go down there to pick it up.
On the way, an early Friday eve, the same day
as the Ad was official done, I started down
to road from Comp USA only to realize that
her headlights were not working!!!!
I was about to get on the freeway.
A man honked at me.
Oh, my God, that was scary!!!
My spirit said, Go! So I
drove the distance on the freeway
from La Mesa to Hillcrest with no headlights!!!!
There were a couple places were the lights
on the freeway were low.. Yikes!!!!
but I was determined to get there to pick up
the disk.
When I arrived, Joelle had set the disk aside
for me, but I still was going to have to get into
down to the Earth Day office the next day.
I was definitely not going to drive the EG Mobile
once I got there to Whole Foods.
Guess what?????
David Cohen, who works for Earth Day was shopping
at Whole Foods the minute that I was attempting to
figure out what to do next!!!!
A very helpful man who I have known for more than 20 years
as an acquaintance, David came to my aid.
He was going into work the next day, a day when I wanted
to prep to get up to do the Jensen Birthday Party 50 miles
away.
I called Stephen Markowitz who I had planned to see later
that night at the Dance Jam. I had three Rakes with me
to do some PR for the Sunday event. This was the Friday
before the Sunday.
David took me to the DanceJam where Stephen would be later.
Then David came in for a moment to say hello to Mel Lions,
another old friend of his who runs the DanceJam. Mel is
also head of Roots, a fantastic group involved with School
farming projects, and much more!!!
Later than night Stephen came and got me.
Then, after the Jam Stephen took me home to the EGIC.
The next day David delivered the finished Ad to Chris Klein
at the Earth Day office.
Last Sunday, Easter Sunday.
I was again EG Mobile-less.
I wanted to have the inside painted too,
and there were a lot of extra things to do
such as straightening out her bumpers and
a huge dent pushing in her nose. Ouch!!!!!!
She is almost 40 years old, but very young for her age.
Still coming into her prime with all these recent
mechanical repairs, and going to the Beauty Shop
for her Makeover. It has been eight years since the
last time.
Sunday, David came and got me.
We picked the first rose of the season
off the Old Fashioned Rose bush, and I took
it to the FM.
David spent about an hour with me,
then he left.
We dropped off a number of hundred of
the San Diego Earth Times with Joe.
