Quicken nightmares...
The program may have
developed a dysfunction.

or is today August 10th?
My computer is acting out.
The date appears to be August 9
Wednesday--
but the Quicken is indicating
that the date is August 10.
I went to the edge today
attempting to create a Report
for our Internet and Cable Bill.
I could not believe I was having so much trouble
doing this.
The problem was that I pay the Internet
out of one account split among various housemates
and pay the Cable out of another account
split among the housemates.
I wanted to pay online...
but the amount owed was generated
from a past owned amount minus a
a refund. These tallies did not equal
the funds collected for the month.
The bill online does not separate Cable
from Internet. This added one more complication.
I created various kinds of Registers and finally a Report
to show the information I wanted.
It took many, many hours, and was injurious
to my body.
At one point I called Lee, my ally accountant
who gives me coaching. He is Vice President
of a major accounting firm that does my yearly
report as a contribution.
His message was stop worrying and enjoy my life.
That is usually his message.
He told me I worry more than his wife!
Presumably, she worries a lot.
After many hours of this tedious, arduous,
and traumatic experience attempted to create
a report that is basically all about wanted to get
it right--I finally was able to see the results.
Next thing I know, one of the Catagories
that gives me this information starts to show up
absolutely wrong.
So then, I switch the catagory to income,
and then back to expense.
Hah! Now it will show up as an expense.
Next thing I know...the program crashes.
When I open it, it refuses to show me this
catagory as an expense...It says expense,
but generates the reports as if the catagory
is income.
So where am I now?
I better let it go before, the Quicken program
gets so incompetent that I can't depend on
the countless hours I have invested to set up
all these reports.
As it stands now, I am now sure,
if I can really count on this Quicken.
I am going to make sure my transactions are
all downloaded and then see if I can save a copy
tomorrow.
It is profound to imagine I am spending my time this
way.
A really big part of me knows that doing this
was inconsequencial. I got all stuck in the mode
of wanting to get it right.
Yesterday, I received an email
from friend Ariella who was talking about
August 8 through the upcoming days
being really special from a Cosmic Viewpoint.
I am going to blog her report elsewhere.
At one point late this afternoon, I was
feeling to make amends to God and the Universe
for how I spent my day, but at least I GOT IT RIGHT.
Then the glitch came.
So what is the message?
I am going to have to sleep on that one.
