INTERFAITH PRAYER VIGIL AT SOUTH CENTRAL FARM AT 11:OO AM
Joan Baez and Rev. Michael Beckwith Join Interfaith Prayer Vigil
JOAN BAEZ RETURNS TO SING AT SOUTH CENTRAL FARM ON MEMORIAL DAY, JOINING RELIGIOUS LEADERS AS THEY MAKE THE PILGRIMAGE TO THE FARM OFFERING BLESSINGS AND PRAYERS FOR ITS SURVIVAL
WHAT: Ceremony celebrates the ever growing community of supporters' cultural diversity and will send a city-wide healing from the farm in "The Heart of LA".
WHO: Reverend Michael Beckwith of Agape International Spiritual Center, Minister Peter Kreitler, Rabbi Lebi Cunin - Chabad of Malibu and other ministers will conduct the blessing ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend.
Also joining the ceremony will be:
~ Evelyn Knight, former Social Worker, who has developed services for the people of South Central for 37 years. Ms. Knight walked with Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Selma Civil Rights March and with Cesar Chavez at the Farm Workers March in Imperial Valley.
~ Beto Cueves, lead singer of Rock en Espanol band La Ley
~ Actors Mariel Hemingway and Shiva Rose McDermott
Many others (tba) will be at the farm expressing solidarity with the protestors and farmers who want to preserve South Central Farm, the nations largest urban farm.
A statement will be made about the status of the farm.
