Raw Ice Cream
Listening over the virtual fence to Ren and Deratune
talking about ice creams. Here is an idea or two
from Dr. Jensen. This is how the raw day went.

Just overheard Ren and Reradune talking
about ice cream cravings. One of the simpliest
ways to satisfy this, although it involves freezing,
is to take the skin off of ripe bananas, fresh them,
and run them through the Champion or other juicer
of that kind.
Many fruits in season can be frozen, such as peaches
and they turn into popicle like treats.
Frozen grapes are a special treat, just wash first
and fresh in bags.
Dr. Jensen use to keep frozen pomegranates in the
freeze where I would stay and do writing. I had
a hard time keeping my hands off.
Offentimes, the ripest fruits you can get at the Farmers'
Market at the end are the ones that are the sweetest.
They may need to be culled. You would be surprized
what gets tossed.
Niece Eva has decided to stay for a second week
doing the raw food detox program at the Optimum
Health Institute. She and Joseph the gardener came
over. We went to the FM in the morning and had a ball.
Joseph enjoyed papayas and mango sprinkled with
cayenne, and Eva ate some of the Rodriguez family
organic strawberries.
We bought three bunches of Ted organic celery,
a huge beet, and a bag of carrots for $5.00. He threw
in two garlics. This was the first time I assembled
the Green Power juicer in a long time.
The juice was real good.
Then, to support Eva in staying raw, we made a big salad
from the Rodriguez fresh lettuces. We had the juice
and the salad. I promised Joseph a soup, so I
whipped up three avocadoes, pour in some of the juice,
and added some of the lemon grass from the garden.
I sprinkled some of Braggs spices called of all things
Sprinkles.
Our salad was a lot more satisfying that what they
get down at the Optimum Health Institute. How often
can you get food that fresh that has been growing
the day before.
Fresh
Fresh
Fresh
it's the life force that counts.
Eva has been an M&M's kind of girl up to now
and she is really having a transformation.
She has decided to spend one more week
down at the Optimum Health Institute.
I think they learn about the raw fermented
foods the second week of the program.

You know, this reminds me that I really need to get working on the raw ice cream recipes! There are plenty around and some that even use ice cream makers -- which fascinates me. When I was a kid we made homemade ice cream at big family get togethers and it was so fun. I would love to be able to carry on such a tradition with good healthy raw vegan ingredients! ;)
MAN OH MAN, what we need is an investor with lots of money and start our own line of raw vegan ice cream. We could have all kinds of awesome flavors -- raw chocolate, durian, mango, chai...and even have raw sherbert type popsicles too. Frozen isn't TOTALLY raw, but it's close...! ;)
