Orphans Gather

It was a powerful gathering we had
here last night.

The Holiday Party we had last night here at the
Enchanted Garden in San Diego was one of the most
healing gatherings we have had in many years.

The array of food was wonderful from raw fudge
made by our resident graduate of raw food culinaryship,
Jenn Schultz.

Many who attended seemed shiny in some sense
as if they had been doing a lot of spiritual work the last year.

It was really a great gathering.

At one point, we created Sacred Space and everyone
had an opportunity to hold a Hanukkah candle and speak
about their own life or intentions. It was very sweet.

Numbers of people spoke up. The room was full--
more than 25 people.

There was a prevailing feeling that we were creating a safe
space together, a feeling of extended family. Many of us
felt like orphans, estranged from the dominant culture of our
parent's world. Most of us are turned away from being Malled
for Christmas.

Many seemed impacted by religions and its woundings,
as well as the breech between our lives and the lives
as our parents lived. Most seemed very open and available
to seeing God through many ways...

"Shalom, Salaam, Peace" fit here.

Many expressed a deep appreciation that we were here.

I wonder if anyone has created a ritual before where we
sang "Oh, Holy Night!" the traditional Christmas tune,
and then went into the Lighting of the First Hanukkah candle
and a reciting of Liora Leah's Prayer for Light. Then we repeated
Oh, holy night, feeling that we were the "Savoir" being born.

I think it is easy to take for granted this kind of openness and melding,
realizing the gift of being in such a shared consciousness that
is as open to dancing to a popularized Hindu Chant from Larisa Stow,
to singing a Christmas Carol, or repeating a Chanukah Prayer.

I am sure if Scott and Anna and Richard knew the tune here
to the Chanukah Hebrew Song I did as a kid, they would have
done that song too.

It was very deep and I felt a lot of healing happened
last night between sons and daugthers, and parents,
not only here, but throughout our Soul Group.

The Poem I read, Divine Return, seemed to say it all.

Many of us feel as if we have awoken in a world
that feels alien and contrary to the life of the Soul.
The holidays are painful for many of us.
Many here shared this common theme, and also
a sense of hope.

It is so remarkable to witness and celebrate
that even though we feel down, give most of us the
slightest Light, and we will jump for it. We are so thirsy
for the Truth of Love between us. We all so want truly
to espress the kindness and live beyond war.

We also read Rachel's story of "My Life as a Christmas Tree."
Many guests were very moved by these suspenseful story.

I asked numbers of the guests to step into my room
and make a comment on Liora's blog.

I do not have children. It felt meaningful to me to have the opportunity
to gift some Joy into the heart and life of a sweet young girl at such
an impressionable age. It is not too late to read Rachel's story
and tell her what you think. Kids so need our love and positive regard
to overcome all the feedback that is less that esteeming.
