Keeping Secrets

Keeping Secrets. This is the intro
to a book I wrote. Today is a day to
express withholds and ask for forgiveness.

I would very much like to believe that I was in control
of the time and space it took to write these poems, but in truth
I had little other choice I could imagine. It was either write or
sit in flames burning. As long as I kept my pen moving,
I had the sensation I was somehow making sense of the
unreasonable, of something that cannot be explained,
the wounds and pains, emotions and feelings, when a man
loses himself in a woman.

It has not been comfortable putting these writings into the world.
I have done so because the world is in hiding.
People believe there are secrets between them.
Life begs us. Life asks. It says don't hold back.
We come to own life through owning our own experiences.
My many deaths. My rebirths. My withholds, my secrets,
my visions, my pride, my false steps. My pure heart.
I give them up to make room for more of me to self express.
I offer these intimate expressions in the spirit of that sharing.

Half the world I know believes that in saying "yes" to sex,
they must say "no" to their spirituality. The other half belives
that in saying "yes" to God, we must say "No" to our bodies
in our sensual and sexua| expression. Spirituality cannot be
divorced from any aspect of daily living for the human in us to flower.
God is also rated x, I am discovering.
