Life No Longer the Same
Had a feeling as if I stepped
into my future yesterday.
Connected very strongly
with an entourage of very successful
world class Opera singers at the Slow
Foods event. Near went on stage to
do a poem, but the event ran over.

with lots of emotions. The morning is
passing me by. I am not sure if I have the luxury
to take time to write it all.
Went to this incredible cultural happening
yesterday at the Orfila Winery near Escondido
where the San Diego Slow Foods group was
having its annual fundraiser.
It was an amazing cultural happening.
I turned into the primary photographer, or so it seems.
It was an event I felt I needed to be at,
but I had various resistances to going.
Slow Foods started in Italy as a reaction to Fast Foods.
It is now an International Movement.

There were a soul group of performers
led by Daniel Hendrick, an amazing Tenor and Composer.
The back page of the program read...
"...trilling, audiences throughout the world with his rich soaring
tenor voice reminiscent of famed Tenor "Aurelioano Pertile."

I had this happen to be once before.
Linda Hill was playing the piano years ago
and we were singing a song from Fiddler on the Roof
and I heard the voice of my father, an Orthodox Jewish Cantor
singing through me. It was a powerful reconnection with my father.
I was raised to sing in the Synagogue and we would sing together,
but the paternalistic Jewish relationships and the sense of
stiffling judementalism--attempting to put me ina box that did not fit me--
cut off my Voice from singing loud and clear.
Yesterday, as this Tenor Daniel Hendrick was singing Opera
with his entourage, including the most incredible woman
whose heart, chest, eyes, soul, and voice were vitally connected,
I was standing at the stage taking photos as the men and she were singing
opera and this very deep Tenor voice started coming through me.
It was the most incredible healing experience.
There were raising the ceiling with their voices and the music
behind them, and I was singing a few feet in front of the stage
at the top of my lungs. It is one thing to yell with anger, but this
was a different kind of voice expression, very powerful and healing.
It made me think of another friend who has musical tones in her
voice but her range has been stiffled. I had this clear sense
that if I could sing like this, if she could sing like this, unabashedly
we would both be profoundly healed. The experience was profoudly
healing.
Daniel and his entourage could not say enough about the photos
that I was snapping while they performed. They saw them
in the digital screen of my camera.
His wife was from Mexico and she is an artist.
They live locally in San Diego.
The other woman who was singing with Daniel also lives
in Chula Vista. She travels widely in Mexico to various concert walls
and sings periodically with the San Diego Symphony and the Golden
Gate Orchestra.
I have had a feeling for years that i would be touring Europe with my
Poetry. The poem I had in mind to lead the group is called
The World Famous No Carorie Poem.
I say the words and everyone repeats them
so the calories do not count.
This Slow Food Movement is in Italy and Scott Murray
and Gordon, the local organizers are both old allies
who have been to the International Gathering.
I felt an affinity with Slow Foods for years, and now is the time
that the relationship will blossom.
Much to say about this, but time to get some other completes
for the morning.
More later.
