I Got WORMS!!!
I got worms...
Date: 6/10/2005 9:31:47 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1507 times Just got back from the Friday Farmers' Market.
Arrived a few minutes after Closing Time,
but every one I wanted to see was still there.
Joe from Philly says hello in his friendly manner.
"I told Steve you would keep your date right on time!!!"
They got my regular $5 of avos.
When Steve asks "Anything else?"
I asked if he had some ugly oranges?
"Yes, there's a while box full!"
I loaded up for roommates.
My spirits raised up,
way up from where I was at 5 P.M
Miguel, my supplier of cherries,
peaches and apricots still had some
cherries on the table, so I loaded up
for the week.
"Got anything for my worms???"
I asked.
"See what you can find," he said,
so I went foraging in the box of knocked arounds
and overripes.
My spirit lifted more.
"Say, Miguel, my worms really love
these throw away fruits of yours.
They keep getting pregnant.
The only problem is, they ignore
me unless I speak spanish!
Do you think you can teach me a few
more words?'
"Come a little earlier next week,"
says Miguel.
We have a cordial time each
week very respectful and fun.
He appreciates me as the poet.
I enjoy his sermons.
He once told me Billy Graham was in town.
I went right over to the Stadium.
I told Miguel about my great times with
Peter Dukich, the man of God who has
said the Lords Prayer every day since the age
of 17. One of the other BioDynamic Wisdom Keepers
I met last Sunday at Peter's 90th Birthday
said that for him his compost pile was
the Body of Christ.
I want to encourage you to
get a large bin, and start feeding it with your organic
scraps. I would love to hear back that you have
started to do a little vermiculture, worm raising.
This is a great way to start building worm castings,
the poop and pee from worms that God and worms
make to nourish all our plants.
Where do you get Earthworms???
Try the pet store or Sports store where
they supply fishermen.
If you are an Animal Rights or BuG Savior advocate,
you can organize a local Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Earthworms
Chapter (SPCE). This is one way you can
Save a container
of Earthworms--less the $2.00 likely
from the Death of being
hooked, lined and sinkered.
Stop a fish from creating Karma
even though it is a raw meal.
Here is what to do:
Just put in some soil in a five gallon bucket
or larger bin. Then, layer in some
greens. Drop in the worms.
You will be amazed to see how
fast the worms do their thing.
The little ringlets around them are signs of
pregnancy.
Keep the bucket moist but not sopping wet.
Mother Earth will thank you, and so
will Your Enchanted Gardener
for being a Friend to plants.
Love from Your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie
