D-Day Reflections
June 6 is the Anniversary
of 10,000 US of A Men
dying on Omaha Beach.
I watched a show on
PBS that was called
Secrets for Dying.
Are there any secrets for Living
that you and I can learn from
this Now?

My Commentary:
I've been feelng especially tired
and a bit discouraged the last couple days.
I don't feel like taking on the bill paying
and going through all the mail.
I feel so much more alive when I am
preparing for one of my Don Quixote gaunts
into the world of possibility.
In times like that I can summon all of me
and go to Peace.
Last night and early this morning
I was reliving the anniversary of D-day
that happened about 60 years ago
on June 6.
PBS had an intriquing title for the documentary
called Secrets of the Dead.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was in charge of the
effort to take back the shoreline of France,
and the US and our Allies--mainly Great Britain
in this battle--invented all kinds of clever machines
to do impossible things like create floating tanks.
The waters were extra heavy that morning,
and at the beach we were to take--the US of A--
called Omaha--the Germans were all lined up
on a hill with 87 or more machine guns.
This nice aged and mellowed German
was on the show, as well as a few British
and US Survivors who ended the show
so happy to meet each other on the same
beach where they had killed each other off.
The US had the machines--27 floating tanks
to clear the way for the infantry, but the British
watched as the Men in Charge decided not to
come in close enough to open the gates to tell
out the tanks.
All the tanks sank. They the US of A has this
wonderful idea to make Big Holes in the sand
to protect their Men, but all the Rockets did
was create a July 4 Type Fireworks Display.
Not one, came in close enough.
After all, maybe Every Body was looking out
for themselves, or Maybe as Eisenhower knew
they did not expect that many of the 70,000
who Hit the Beach to Survive anyway.
The Nice German Elder described said
that when the Dawn came, it looked like
there were more shipped coming in then
then had Men, however they had lots of Bullets.
Without the Tanks to clear the Way
or the Rockets, the Infantry were like Sitting Ducks.
About 10,000 were killed in a few hours
and the nice German Man described said
there were so many men that they had no faces,
they were just moving uniforms.
The US of A Survivors said basically the same.
One said that he was shooting uniforms,
and if a person had a square helmet he killed
them, and if they had a round, he figured they
were our Uniforms.
One of the Men who got his Machine to work
and was riding into France, saw this incongruous
sight that was pictured in Secrets of the Dead.
A French Country Woman had in a long dress
had to Milk Cans balanced on each side of her
shoulders on the edge of a stick. She made no
never mind of the Machine passing.
She had cows to milk, while down the road
Tons of Guys were landing to Do War.
They Men has a Special book about how to
Treat the local Ladies because maybe the Guys
didn't know.
Everyone was so happy to finally meet
toward the end of the Show, the German
who was shooting, and the US of A Guys
who finally got a chance to Shoot back.
Last time I was watching TV, during Winter
I turned off the Set when the Count was 1000
dead in Irag. I turned it on again and now there
are 1600 who have gone on to better pastures.
I wonder what it would have taken for that
nice German man and the these Nice guys from the US of A
to have been friends when they were kids.
I am wondering if there is anything you and I
can do right here and right now to demonstate
that there are other Ways to work things out.
