I Saw Dani
Visiting with Dani, the 17 year old,
I am wanting to help.
For me this is all about retracing my steps.
I want to give a 17 year old the support
I never had myself when I was 17
and grew up in that same neighborhood
where we met.
Date: 4/29/2005 6:52:43 AM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1146 times I have been thinking a lot about
Dani, the 17 year old youthful lady
who works at the Doggy bakery at
the Farmers' Market at Third and Fairfax
in L.A.
I have written about Dani.
I met her the day after my 40th High School Reunion.
I came to give myself some time at the Farmers' Market
near the all seeing eye of CBS at Beverly and Fairfax.
I grew up under that All Seeing Eye
of CBS down the street
I came to this Farmers' Market to raise my spirits
when I was a 17 year old. I felt very sad and lost in a fog
through a lot of high school.
Dani, when I met her, was also a 17 year old.
She was also a faltering student at Fairfax.
He is also a gifted teen, who I sense needs support.
Today, when I returned to the Farmers Market,
I came to mail a post card of "Your Creation,"
one of the Seven Love Cures to my Aunt Rita.
I also came seeking out Dani.
The parking space I found--the only one Open--
was parked in front of some tables with high school
kids sitting.
I look up.
I am parked in front of the Dog Bakery.
I go in. There is a pretty teen sitting
on the country blushing.
I assume she works here.
"When does Dani work next?"
Then Dani stands up from under the counter.
She has a blush on her face.
I imagine she saw me coming, and was ducking down
to avoid me. Maybe I am wrong.
I was in my power.
She obviously remembered me from my last visit.
She had received a blog from me.
She said she had written back.
We talked. It was cordial and personal.
I asked how she was doing. She told me.
She said yes to my taking some photos of her.
She said it was o.k. to post them here.
I told her I wanted to assist her because
I felt that if I could help just one teen NOT
have the problems I had when I was 17,
that would be very healing for me.
She understood what I was saying.
We spoke of her plans for schooling.
She said she would be looking forward to receiving an email from me.
A couple of the kids made comments about the EG Mobile.
One young lady asked what I did for a living.
I told her. I am an Enchanted Gardener.
She told the other kids.
I gave her a tour of the EG Mobile. Another boy came by.
Who was this older man with the limp?
I gave them Steve's the Farmer's tangerines.
I bought some basil gave the kids a sniff.
I brought in some Job's Tears and explained how you plant your Dream.
Dani was grateful to receive the seeds.
She wrote me a little thank you note.
They had some dog cookies on the counter today.
Wheat free, sugar free (?) oreo type cookies for dogs.
I ate some. They were very good.
I came back for more
Ruff...ruff...
