I had a vision today.
In the little box where I store
my Holy Wheat Seeds, and now my Barley Seeds,
I have the Wedding Rings of my Mother Ann Esther Goldman.
Today, I asked my father to harvest the first grains of Barley
that I grew this winter. Today I asked my father to teach me
again the Jewish Prayers. Today I asked my father to spend
quality time for the first time in our lives, with his son.
This was an incredibly beautiful day between a father and a son.
From that Box, I took out the rings.
I had my father hold them.
Do you know what these rings are?
I ask.
He fingers them.
She should know, perhaps.
He once gave them to my mother.
An hour later, I am standing in the presence
of a Goddess named Nira from Yemen.
We are standing in a tent in the back of her Tea Shop
on Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles.
I give her my mother's rings.
I tell her I can see weddings and engagements in this
tent behind her Tea Shop.
I say there is only one thing missing her in this tent.
I would put in a nice rug for the floor.
She points out that there is a rug.
It is here over here drying from a sudden early morning down pour
that no one expected.
She fingers the rings.
She says I am surrounded by my mother.
She says now is the time when I am ready to be married.
(gulp...)
I give her the gift of four barley seeds.
I place them between the legs of a Goddess Statue
in her store at 505 N. Fairfax.
I shall return her to read The Seven Love Cures.
Likely in June, around Shavuot.
I have a vision. I may be proposing to Lover
then. She will likely refuse as this is her way to say
No. Lover always says No unless she is saying Yes.
I show her where I place the seeds.
She says, we use that Goddess to fertilize dreams.
