Pre-Fast: Setting the Framework
Background notes and mental preparation for the Fast that I am starting on Monday, Feb.14th.
Date: 2/12/2005 3:08:52 AM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 2912 times Here I go again. I water-fasted for 7 days in January. I ate on the 8th day, which was ridiculous because I wasn't even hungry. I lost almost 10 pounds during this fast. I figured that I would gain it all back, and within days I had gained back about 7 pounds. I felt like I had experienced the world's fastest weight gain, and I was miserable over it. I weighed myself today fully expecting to have gained back the entire 10 pounds plus a few more. I only gained back those original 7 pounds, so I have decided to fast again. I don't know how long I will fast, I am just going to listen to my body.
I will be trying the Every Other Day method of fasting. I am hoping to keep my metabolism up as high as I can, as my metabolism is sluggish to begin with. I'm no expert. I'm just going to try to see what works for me and go from there.
I started this blog because I know how important it is to learn about other people's experiences to motivate one to change. I know that what I have read here on Curezone has motivated me to try to make changes in my life. I don't intend that anything in this blog be construed as advice. I just want to share my experience with others.
Here's some background on me:
29 year-old female, in relatively good health. I took Zoloft for about 9 months for Social Anxiety Disorder and recently quit taking it almost cold turkey. It was moderately difficult for me to quit. I take no other meds. I suspect that I have a thyroid condition, as I have many of the classic symptoms though I have not been tested.
height: 5 ft 8in.
start weight: 180
short term goal:160
long term goal: 145
clothing size:
pants: depends 10 or 12
shirts: I wear XL for length because of my long torso and my rather large chest. Even when I was 25 pounds lighter, I wore L or XL. It's just a necessity for me.
Trouble areas:
I have deep stretch marks on my stomach and some very light ones on my biceps. I have a thick "middle" and I seem to gain fat in this area easily with even a small weight gain. My legs, arms, wrists and fingers are relatively thin in relation to the rest of my body.
My stomach is flabby and somewhat stretched due to heavy weight gain during pregnancy. I am worried that there will be alot of excess skin that will hang over. I will post about this as it may be a concern of other women who have experienced this post-pregnancy.
My inner thighs are very flabby and I have lumpy deposits of fat on my thighs. ICK!
Wow, I'm feeling a little exposed! Sharing all my body issues is a little un-nerving. Oh well.
More later. :o)
