A story of Memorial Day from 1920s... At first it was only done local. One such occurrence in the 1220's was that several of the Union veterans had been celebrating a memorial day - yet there were former Confer-ate Veterians in the area, therefore the unions vets went out and and invited the all former Confederate vets and so it became a national event!
Decoration Day as it was originally called by the Ladies of Dixie; and then was copied by the rest of the nation...

This is a story about some veterans of the War Between the States...
Memorial Day was started by women in Dixie; in 1866 the Spring after the end of that great conflict...
The original idea was to remember the fallen dead veterans, by going out and decorating the graves of these heroes... Thus the name Decoration Day...
Many families still go out and decorate and clean up the Graves of relatives and friends specifically in the South land today... It is not just limited to veterans...
But we should all learn the real meaning in the observance of Memorial Day... After Congress made Memorial Day a National holiday, it requires the President to set aside a period of time on that day for Prayer, and remembrance of all fallen veterans...
The official time in 2006 was 11:00... This is just so you know that there is more of a reason than just to go out on a picnic in the park... Nothing against such actives but we do need to remember the whole reason for Memorial day...
Remember - See Ya.
