The Truth Shall Make You Free
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
I have become a Disciple of Christ, and have chosen to seek the truth in every avenue of life! There can be no better way.
The world seems to be in an ongoing battle to see who controls everything!
The unfortunate part about that is, they are misled and do not realize that we do not really control our environment and must learn to live under the direction and laws of Almighty God. He has given each of us a " free Agency " or the choice as to what we do with our earthly existence!
I.E., who will you serve or follow?
One question I have for all these controlling, self-centered plotters and planners of today is who put you in charge?
{Their answer is they are hung up on the big "ME"} yet if you take time to look at who, what and when - things happen; you would see that we are not as super great as we want to think we are!
Following is a quote from one of the most powerful men who ever lived! He had followed in the same world control system as many of the Great Rulers of this earth! Only to find the absolute truth!
** Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) was, by all accounts, a giant of history. Soldier. General. Emperor. Exile. And although none would add ‘theologian’ to this list, Napoleon faced a question common to all mankind: Who is Jesus Christ?
History has seen many different answers. Christians have claimed Him as Savior, others have considered Him just another wise teacher, and skeptics have deemed Him to be a largely mythological figure.
Near the end of his life, the exiled Emperor Napoleon came to the following conclusion about the King of Kings:
I know men, and I tell you Jesus Christ was not a mere man.
Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires and the gods of other religions. That resemblance does not exist.
There is between Christianity and other religions the distance of infinity.
Jesus Christ alone founded His empire upon love, and at this hour millions of men will die for Him.
Alexander, Cesar, Charlemagne and myself founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius?
Upon sheer force. Jesus Christ alone founded His empire upon love, and at this hour millions of men will die for Him. In every other existence but that of Christ how many imperfections!
From the first day to the last He is the same; majestic and simple; infinitely firm and infinitely gentle. He proposes to our faith a series of mysteries and commands with authority that we should believe them, giving no other reason than those tremendous words, ‘I am God.’
The Bible contains a complete series of acts and of historical men to explain time and eternity, such as no other religion has to offer.
If it is not the true religion, one is very excusable in being deceived; for everything in it is grand and worthy of God.
The more I consider the Gospel, the more I am assured that there is nothing there which is not beyond the march of events and above the human mind. Even the impious themselves have never dared to deny the sublimity of the Gospel, which inspires them with a sort of compulsory veneration.
What happiness that Book procures for those who believe it!
So said Napoleon Bonaparte. What about you? Who do you say that Christ is? Scripture tells us that “every knee should bow…and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord.” Even the great Napoleon.
Quoted from Ritzema, E. (Ed.). (2012). 300 Quotations for Preachers. Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press.
Note: Yes, Jesus was both God and man. Napoleon’s quote that Jesus “was not a man” is presumably meant as “Jesus Christ was not a mere man.” Again, he wasn’t a theologian.
Napoleon is one of the most known and a major world power player; he was not only a military leader; but Introduced the modern world with such the Metric System, Banking, School systems, plus more which has framed the present world!
Just to let you know how much influence that was, he has over 70 thousand books written about him, while compared Abraham Lincoln only has about 12 thousand books on his life. Yet once he came to see the Truth of God in his life, his pronouncement was firm! The above statement was in a question he asks one of his aides "Who do you say Christ was?" He did knew Christ is King!
Can you begin to get the magnitude of this post?
Does this awaken your moral sense of reason and wonder?
Most of the world is running in circles or drowning in pity or power, or lost to the Truth of God, in directing their life!
Seek first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all the other things will be added unto you! Matt6:33
Try it!
