We are happy to report that this week our Three-Beet Powder is back in stock. Made from three heirloom varieties chosen for their color, flavor and nutritional content (Detroit Red, Chioggia and Golden), it’s one of our most nutritious, flavorful and versatile powders.
I use Three-Beet Powder or Beet-Root Juice Powder as a first-line treatment for high blood pressure. Consuming beets daily raises the nitric oxide levels in the blood, which relaxes the blood vessels. Blood flow throughout the microcirculation improves, which then lowers the overall blood pressure. Improving the microcirculation is a core principle of any healing system (i.e., massage, saunas and even ice packs).
In addition, beets are the most robust source of a nutrient called betaine. The role of betaine is to thin the bile and make it flow more easily. The way detoxification works is that our liver “conjugates” toxins, and the bile shepherds these toxins out of the body through the intestines.
This process has been compared to bagging one’s garbage (conjugation) and taking it out to the curb (bile flow). By stimulating bile flow, beets make sure we are not living in a house that is overrun by garbage.
This aid in detoxification supports healing as disease is largely caused by an excessive toxic burden. Insofar as our bodies can clear these toxins, our health will improve. The daily consumption of beets or beet powder will help your liver and gall bladder become more efficient at detoxification.
10 Easy Uses for Three-Beet Powder
1. Add a teaspoon to a serving of yogurt (along with a half-teaspoon of Ashitaba Powder) and mix with a splash of maple syrup.
2. Add a half-teaspoon or so to a serving of applesauce.
3. Add a teaspoon or so to oatmeal as it cooks. Serve with heavy cream, cinnamon and raisins.
4. Mix into your favorite granola.
5. Add an extra teaspoon to soup broth.
6. Blend with mayonnaise or room-temperature butter for a colorful sauce.
7. Use as a dry rub on meat; allow to sit for an extra few minutes to let the powder soak in and “conjugates.”
8. Use it as a substitute for artificial red food coloring in any baking recipe, such as red-velvet cake or pancakes.
9. Add a teaspoon to a glass of milk and blend with an immersion blender.
10. Mash a ripe avocado, add a half-teaspoon of Three-Beet Powder, along with a squeeze of lemon juice and sea salt and pepper to taste. Use as a spread on sourdough toast. Top with toasted walnuts and shredded arugula, if desired.
