The raw milk "movement" now has the support it needs for obtaining the highest standards in the production and handling of (what I like to refer to as) farm fresh milk. Many many thanks to Mark McAfee along with the whole McAfee family and all the very good people at Organic Pastures Dairy in Fresno, California for the monumental contributions that have been made toward raw milk freedom!
Following is the report from the Raw Milk Institute: RAWMI
... The RAWMI team has been very busy lately; we have many raw milk producers in the listing "pipeline," with a few in the last stages of the process, and as producers get close to being listed the team repeatedly reviews their plans and procedures. It takes time and requires great attention to detail, but it's the only way we know to ensure that our listed farmers are doing their absolute best to produce safe, clean raw milk.
We're looking forward to some great things this year, but first let's review the year just ended.
A Look Back at 2014
In November, RAWMI partnered with Penn State University to present a day-long training for 80 producers, regulators, and interested consumers. Speakers at the workshop included two of RAWMI’s board members—Dr. Cat Berge and Mark McAfee—as well as listed RAWMI dairyman Edwin Shank of The Family Cow and Ernest Hovingh, a veterinarian, field investigator, and researcher at Penn State.
We held a well-attended webinar (a web-based presentation attended online) on "Udderly Safe Milk," in which our chairman Mark McAfee focused on cleanliness and safety concerns surrounding the milking process. We've found that attendees—even very experienced producers—really appreciate these free webinars as a time to step back and take a look at their everyday procedures.
This past year we added two additional farms to our family of RAWMI-listed producers. These dairy farmers have diligently developed an extensive and comprehensive food safety program "from grass to glass" and then implemented it at their farms. They then had their risk assessment and management plans—their RAMPs—carefully reviewed by RAWMI.
Results from our listed farmers continue to be stellar. Low bacteria counts, zero complaints, zero illnesses, and 100% happy farmers and consumers! That is the mission and we are achieving it!
Last year one of our applicants called RAWMI in desperation because their insurance was not being renewed. As soon as they were listed by RAWMI, their insurance policy was renewed and remained in force. This was an important acknowledgment by the insurance industry that the self-examination and documentation of procedures required by the RAWMI listing process are, by themselves, valuable in reducing risk!
We're so proud of each of the farmers listed on the RAWMI website. They are examples of excellence and we're pleased to see that many of them reach out at mentors to others, sharing their knowledge for the greater good of safe raw milk access for consumers.
Looking Ahead to 2015
As we mentioned, we have several producers going through the listing process and have every expectation of having at least one of them listed shortly. Each listed producer is so important because it means one more farmer is willing to show the world their procedures, risk control points, and test results, to produce raw milk transparently and with full accountability.
We're working toward our next webinar as well, and will keep you updated when we're ready to start accepting reservations. You're welcome to attend the webinar whether or not you produce raw milk yourself! Learning about careful raw milk production can help make you a more informed consumer and help you choose the best for your family.
We expect to have other exciting news to report later this year, as we work to finalize arrangements for additional events and working collaborations.
You can help as we move toward these goals. ...

Raw Milk Supports a Healthy Immune System:
A healthy immune system depends on a healthy gut, which hosts plentiful beneficial bacteria. Approximately 80% of our immune system is built on diverse bacteria. Raw milk has many of these bacteria, plus the nutrients to feed the bacteria. This results in a strong immune system.
The following is an article at Dr. Mercola's site that gives a similar history of the two milks (included in the DVD) that Mark gives excellent attention to.
