DESIGNING A HEALTHIER PIZZA BOX WITH THE CHILDREN AT THE NATIONAL HEIRLOOM EXPO 2013
Whole Foods Market Santa Rosa provided me with Pizza Boxes that the kids. The end result of this project in full form will be using recycled pizza containers dressed up with old Baker Creek Catalogue photos from old programs to design Pizza boxes for The Grow A Healthier Pizza Starter Kit.

The second day of the National Heirloom Expo, the World’s Pure Food Fair, brings together busloads of children to focus on healthy food, and to encourage school gardens. In 2013, I presented an activity about how to create a healthier pizza. I gave away Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds donated by the Expo organizer. My intention was to foster healthier ingredients in the foods our children eat most often and introduce these rare seeds to new plant parents. I will do the same program with the children this year.
"This is the true myth of America. She starts old, old, wrinkled and writhing in an old skin. And there is a gradual sloughing off of the old skin, towards a new youth. It is the myth of America."

I am still in a healing mode and making progress day by day.
Some of the next issues I am looking at is how foods I will be able to eat on the road and at the expo.
I want to do some kid activity, but not sure I want to commit to a specific time.
I will pick up seeds on the way up from the Petaluma Seed Bank on Friday September 5.
My goal is to get to the Heirloom Seed Expo and fulfill my class teaching on the 9th at 11:30 am.
I would like to see a photo of the kid work I did last year go up on the website. I will see what I can come up with.
I had a marvelous time at the early morning Press event and interacting with the children.
Hopefully, my health will continue to improve.
Best to you,
Leslie
