From La Canada, CA, at the intersection of I-210 and Angeles Crest Highway (State Rt. 2): Take Rt. 2 east for 25.6 miles to the campground sign. Turn left at the sign and go 0.1 miles to a "Y" intersection. Bear left towards the Manzanita Loop on the left of Chilao Campground and turn left.
Proceed to campsite 30, turn right on the road blocked by the white gate that goes to Coulter Group Campground. Use the combination received upon reservation confirmation to open the combination lock and enter the campsite.

You may already have found this but since I did I'll share. Coming from San Diego you may prefer a route that avoids going through Downtown Los Angeles. Approx travel time: 3 hours.
Basically from Dan:
15 North to 91
91 West to 71 Expressway
71 Expy North to 57
57 North to 210
210 West to Hwy 2 in La Canada-Flintridge
Hwy 2 (now Angeles Crest Hwy) North about 25 miles to Chilao Campground turnoff.
