Day 1: The Beginning

The day before yesterday the thought occured to me that I needed to fast. It was an intense feeling, not just a passing thought.
Last night I decided to have a snack. When I entered my kitchen I stood looking at the food--junk food--and I didn't want a single morsel of it. A switch went off inside of me and I knew that I had started a fast.
Today is day one.
So far today has been the easiest first day of a fast I've ever experienced. Every once in a while I'll get a craving for some arbitrary food. I don't think it's hunger but the comfort of eating. It's habit.
This makes me wonder do we really need to eat as often as we do? Who decided three meals a day was proper?
