UP TO OUR GILLS IN TOXINS AND GMO SALMON WITH BOTTOM FEEDER EEL GENES
This is a photo by Andy Martinez of the Eel Pout Bottom feeder that has been Genetically Mixed with Atlantic Salmon Genes to produce a New Fast Growing Super Size Supermarket Offering ready by 2014 with FDA Blessings. The FDA has already approved this fish that will be imported from Panama. The Alaska Wild Caught Salmon Industry is a bit concerned that this further contribute to their economic woes. It will not be Labeled in the Store, simple offered as Farm Raised. Only the remaining Wild Caught Salmon will be GE Free. Does this sound Kosher?
Lisa Goldwag Kassner, San Fernando Valley Co-Coordinator
Los Angeles County Label GMOs Campaign coordinator is concerned that many Jewish People do not know that eel bottom feeders are part of the new GE Salmon. She is asking Jewish people to take action. Eel is not a Kosher Fish. If a mere 300,000 more people had voted Yes on Prop 37, at least we would have started to Label GMOs.
MY COMMENTS FOR TUBISHVAT--THE BIRTHDAY OF THE TREES 2013
I had a special opportunity today to participate in a Tubishvat Seder led by Rhonda Mason as part of the Shir HaYam Service. It was a big deal for me to attend. I, like many others, have been under the weather. My immune system is down and susceptible to colds and flu. Many times during the last two months I have been reinfected.
I do not feel that vaccines are the answer. I do not feel that eating sugar, white flour (i.e, normal Challah dough), helps.
My assessment is that many of us, me included, have reached toxic levels in our body. This is now called Toxic Load. Nature is sending us the gift of these bacteria and viruses to Wise us up and force us to eliminate these toxins. Fever comes to burn toxics. It feeds on Toxic Load. Will we get the message? Where do we begin?
Most of us continue to war against Nature. Part of the Parsha today spoke of God interceding with Super Natural events, such as separating the Red Sea to allow the Hebrews to escape death at the hands of the Eqyptian's chasing them; and yet, today, we are being chased down and assaulted by another challenge, GMO technology applied to food. This has further added to our Toxic Load, and yet GMO's in the environment and in our food go unlabeled.
THE WISE PATH FOR NOW
We forget that food is Medicine. The concept of The RIght to Know in CA was voted on Nov 6. 4.3 Million said yes. Had 300,000 more said yes and we would have had labels on some of our food. That would have been a beginning.
As it stands now, the idea of growing some of our own food and winning back our food freedom is a foreign concept. We believe, most of us, that is its O.K. to turn over the growing of our food to Big Ag.
Big Ag has failed and is failing. It is further made possible by the threat of more and more GE foods. The FDA and Gov are on this bandwagon and have been for decades.
I want to say what I see:
Most of us are eating foods that are riddled with particles of soy and sugar that are GE based. Corn is no longer a safe food. Our own ritual foods--such as Challah-- are causing allergic reactions in the body, and inflammation. Most of us imagine we are allergic to gluten, when it is the system that has commercialized wheat that is the New Pharaoh.
Rabbi Abraham Heschel once marched with Martin Luther King on the Freedom Rides. The quest to win back our Seed Freedom is now on our plate. Seed Freedom is about Soul Freedom. The Seed, literally the Seed, is a metaphor for the Soul, and we are abusing both without knowing it. This is one of the unseen factors now when we allow GMO Tech applied to Big Ag. It puts too much power in too few hands. These few hands are determining the fate of Seeds that are part of our common heritage.
WELCOME TO THE AGE OF COLD ELIMINATION AS NEVER BEFORE
Welcome to the age of colds and flu as never before. Welcome to the age when most of us are warring against Nature, Peace with Nature begins as we realize we are Seeds of Peace.
THE ROAD BACK TO SANITY
Start growing seeds. We will get our beat back with nature. One day, we will wake up in a Post GMO Food world.
We are compelled to start somewhere. That is why so many of us in CA worked heartfully, dedicatedly to pass Prop 37. Too many others, who needed to help, did not get on board to create the Grassroots movement that was needed. The Freedom Ride continues. Education is forced upon us one way or another.
For now the opportunity exists, to make comments on GE Salmon.

ASK STORES TO REJECT SELLING FRANKENFISH
But we have to do more. Please sign the letter below to executives at these top food retailer chains. Tell them you won’t shop at their stores if they stock frankenfish!
There’s no place in U.S. grocery stores for GE fish that is raised in Panama and imported to the U.S. - without labels telling us it’s been genetically engineered. We already know that problems abound with factory-farmed and imported seafood. In his recent article, “Today's Seafood Special: Pig Manure, Antibiotics, and Diarrhea Bugs,” Tom Philpott explains how the FDA is doing a lousy job of policing seafood imports. Philpott refers to a recent study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, revealing that 44 percent of the 39 foodborne-illness outbreaks caused by imports from 2005 to 2010 involved seafood - more than any other type of food--Organic Consumer Association
Making a living on fishing has always been a gamble, but this year Alaska’s fisherfolk have even more cause for worry. On December 26 the FDA quietly issued its approval of genetically modified “AquaAdvantage” salmon. After more than a decade of regulatory uncertainty, the FDA’s decision all but paves the way for the fish to be “farmed.” The FDA is taking public comments on the issue until February 24, but the unambiguous wording of the decision suggests little room for charting a new course. Alaskans who make a living fishing for wild salmon have long opposed AquaAdvantage, saying the freakishly fast-growing fish puts wild stocks -- and the state’s fishing industry -- at risk.
It has sent a flurry of enforcement letters to food makers, including B&G Foods, which was told it could not use the phrase "GMO-free" on its Polaner All Fruit strawberry spread label because GMO refers to genetically modified organisms and strawberries are produce, not organisms.
It told the maker of Spectrum Canola Oil that it could not use a label that included a red circle with a line through it and the words "GMO," saying the symbol suggested that there was something wrong with genetically engineered food.
"This to me raises questions about whose interest the FDA is protecting," said Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich (D-Ohio), who has introduced legislation that would require labeling for genetically engineered food. "They are clearly protecting industry and not the public."
One state with a sizable salmon fishing industry - Alaska - passed a law in 2005 that requires labeling of any genetically engineered fish sold there.
"One side of the argument says let's give consumers sovereignty over their food choices," Hallman said. "The other says we've done the science on this and it's no different, so if we put a label on it, we're implying it's somehow risky and that's like government imposed false advertising."
FDA rules won't require labeling of genetically modified salmon

As the Food and Drug Administration considers whether to approve genetically modified salmon, one thing seems certain: Shoppers staring at fillets in the seafood department will find it tough to pick out the conventional fish from the one created with genes from another species.
THIS STORY
FDA rules won't require labeling of genetically modified salmon
User Poll: Should genetically-modified food be labeled?
Despite a growing public demand for more information about how food is produced, that won't happen with the salmon because of idiosyncracies embedded in federal regulations.
The FDA says it cannot require a label on the genetically modified food once it determines that the altered fish is not "materially" different from other salmon - something agency scientists have said is true.
JOB'S RETURN MOVIE: MADE AFTER THE KALLAH 2011 AT THE U OF REDLANDS. THE INTENTION WAS TO INSPIRE MORE SACRED FOOD PROJECTS AMONG THE JEWISH PEOPLE.
In 2012, the Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza took form and includes a project to Grow a Healthier Challah-The Jewish Ritual Bread with KAMUT ® Khorasan Ancient Wheat. Ancient wheat and modern wheat are "Two Different Animals" I have concluded. The act of growing, grinding fresh KAMUT ®, and making dough with kids and adults helps restore our broken beat with Nature that allows us to imagine that GMO Foods are an improvement over what Nature had in mind.
This is long. A few points that Michael Pollan makes here are telling. There were merely about 300,000 votes that separated the 4.3 million who voted Yes to Label Prop 37 in California and those who voted No. The Yes Campaign attempted to raise $10 million, the amount they felt they needed to win. They raised $6 Million. The opposition spent $46 Million and would have spent more to defeat this proposition that was basically a grassroots people's initiative that they portrayed as full of loopholes (wrong!) and inspired to give lawyers a buck (wrong!), and full of misleading info that said food costs would rise (erronious fear based information). In spite of the deceptive No Campaign, the Yes side won at the ballot box. In the final days, the Yes side spent the rest of their money and people saw through the deception. More earlier voters via mail voted No over Yes, taken in my the No Deceptions.
300,000 more Yes on 37 and we would have won.
Fast forward, a few months, and now we face the likelihood of Super Size GMO Salmon, modified with ell gene, being released into our oceans.
By Next Tu'Bishvat, ( a few years down the road) people will not know if the lox or salmon they are eating is has eel genes because they will not be labeled.
