INTRO



The Wheat that most people are offered today has become a national disaster. The term "Fiscal Cliff" was in the news a lot at the tail end of 2012, and yet the national Press, dumbed down by the same eating habits as most Americans, were quiet about how we had jumped off this Fiscal Cliff.

The issue traces to food. We are in a food emergency. We no longer know how to eat. Chewing on Food Safety needs to be a national conversation. We are out of touch with talking to our food, although food by its nature talks to us constantly through illl health. Break the natural laws of eating, and you will become ill at some point.

DR BERNARD JENSEN TAUGHT ME PRINCIPLES OF EATING AND THE NEED FOR FOOD REFORM



My ideas about food melded from the teachings of Dr. Bernard Jensen, who himself began life breaking many of these laws. I came to Dr. Jensen because I, as many today, are being born in the Wounded Healer Tradition. We are born with health problems. We will be forced to learn Health Laws or suffer immense pain.

Growing up, I often heard the argument about this person or that person's grandma or grandpa who ate this or that food and who still had good health. This was used as an argument-- it did not matter what food we ate. Today, more and more children and adults and paying the price of what we ate.

Dr. Bernard Jensen studied the health habits of the people who lived to be a ripe old age. He told the story about Charlie Smith, an 105-year old who ate little but sardines and soda crackers, but for the most part, the long lived people, lived close to nature.

Today, It is more and more difficult to eat anything we like and not be harmed by our habits of living that include eating the foods that commonly sold.

Dr. Jensen once wrote a small book called, "Let's Begin at the Beginning. Man Needs Good Earth and Grains for the Body." How did we come so far today, 2012, where most people are allergic to grains, and where the norm of wheat, as an example, has been one grain that is now bankrupting the nation's health?

In this Chapter of "Grow A Healthier Pizza," we will look at some of Dr. Jensen's teachings. We will look at men he admired who were the Food Reformers of his day and the generations before him.

ALFRED W. McCANN WROTE "THE SCIENCE OF EATING."



We will look at the ideas of Alfred W. McCann, a hero of Dr. Jensen. McCann was a journalist, who led the Food Reform Movement. McCann wrote the books "Starving America" and "The Science of Eating" around World War 1.

Today, Michelle Obama has spoken out in behalf of our children's health. McCann was doing this near 100 years ago.

McCann also looked at Gene Manipulation. In his mind, it was a national disaster that we were sending our best and strongest youth off to die in war, and leaving at home many to breed who were unfit, because of lack of good health.

WHAT IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS TO MAKE A PROFIT IS NOT NECESSARILY GOOD FOR THE NATIONAL HEALTH



McCann and Dr. Jensen saw clearly that was good to make a profit was not good for the people to eat. We need an honest Dialogue on Science, Ethics. In making new laws to protect food, we need to encourage Business and Businesses that uphold principles of Ethics, and serve the public good.

Many decisions were based on what McCann called the "Moneybags." He, and his fellow food reformers, including Harvey W. Wiley, M.D., identified Special Interests, more than 100 years ago, who were dictating national food policy that would lead to the conditions of ill health that we have today. Wiley helped pass the Pure Food and Drug Law of 1906, In 1939, he wrote a book called "Crimes Against the Pure Food Act." in "Grow A Healthier Pizza," we look at some of his work, and his vision for America.

Food Reformers Dr. Bernard Jensen, Alfred W. McCann, and Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, M.D., the guiding force who called forth a Pure and Food Law of 1906 would all agree that eating impoverished grains was a route to economic and health bankruptcy. They would all agree that Ancient Grain--such as KAMUT ® Brand Khorasan Ancient are the real "Dough."
I will be developing this metaphor as this chapter develops..The Greatest impoverishment I can imagine is that we have lost contact with the very essence of the grain itself and the inherent wealth of a whole grain eaten with intelligence..





GETTING TO KNOW THE WORK OF DR. BERNARD JENSEN, Phd







I consider Dr. Bernard Jensen (1908-2001) my spiritual father. His life was a remarkable testament to the power of natural healing. He was told that he might never walk again after a paralyzing car accident at the age of 87. He returned to health through following nature's laws. Dr. Bernard Jensen Knew the power of the micronutrients and the individual "Voice" many elements spoke. Dr. Bernard Jensen wrote in Grains are truly the life of a nation. They different nations look to rice, corn, barley and wheat for the strength and nourishment of their bodies...As the Good Book tells us, it is The Staff of Life.

However, the way we have handled grains in this country--devitalizing, demineralizing, degerminating them--means that we are living on the poorest part of the grain. Some of the most fundamental mineral elements have been taken away, leaving us the husks--insofar as nourishment goes--to live on. If we continue in this direction we shall some day wake up to the face that we are a seriously undernourished people!"--from "Let's Begin at the Beginning. Man Needs Good Earth and Grains for the Body" (1980).


Undernourished? What does that sound like, if not Impoverished?

McCann's wrote a book called "The Famishing World." in 1918. What word picture comes to mind? hH saw and wrote about America Starving, rich and poor. He traced our impoverishment to the way we milled our grains and said:

THIS IS the WORK OF A FOOD REFORMER!

There is other testimony, dating from the year 1490 B. C., on this subject of white flour destruction, which the attorney general's inquiry did not record.

In the twenty-sixth verse of the twenty-sixth chapter of Leviticus, or Vaicra, as the Hebrews call it, it is written that as punishment for the crimes of man their bread would undergo degeneration; that the staff of life would be broken; that no matter to what extent it might be manipulated, even to the extent of having ten women oversee its baking in the same oven, and no matter how carefully it might be weighed out, the people would eat only to find it a worthless and foodless food.

Food that does not fill is not food. These are the exact words of the prophecy:

"After I shall have broken the staff of your bread, so that ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and give it out by weight and you shall eat and shall not be filled."

Uttered 3,408 years ago, this prophecy has been fulfilled. Its fulfilment stole in upon humanity quietly, stealthfully, unnoted. Twentieth century science has demonstrated its truth. The microscope and the test tube have confirmed the description of Leviticus of the white bread of 1918.

§ 83 -- Dollars Dictate to Science

The work conducted, 1914, 1915 and 1916, to determine the ravages of a demineralised diet, by Goldberg, Warring, Willets and Wheeler, at orphanages in Jackson, Mississippi, and at the farm of the Mississippi State Penitentiary, was not designed to disclose truths which the millers would at once confine in a commercial straight jacket.

But their power over science is complete, and so when the United States Public Health Service, April, 1916, published a warning bulletin by Voegtlin, Sullivan and Myers, they had no difficulty in silencing it.

That Government bulletin DE CLAREd that the roller mill system deprived flour of valuable food constituents. That if animals are fed on highly milled wheat and corn they will die within a month or two, whereas they will live in perfect health for many months on an exclusive diet of unmilled wheat or corn.

It also described the dangers incident to the excessive use of baking powder, which destroys the vitamines of the grain.

The flour millers immediately swooped down upon the United States Public Health Service, whereupon in September, 1916, a "correcting" bulletin was issued. The government had been terrified into acquiescence by the dignity and power of the industry offended."

Many today, at the end of 2012 were speaking of the End Times based on many prophesies of many traditions. I would say that these times now are a New Beginning. We are being called to return to the health principles--to hear the Voices of Past, Present, and Future who are all calling out and saying,

Grow A Healthier Pizza means, "Grow Some of Your Own Food." It means standing up to special Interests that are dictating increased poor health in America through returning to the time tested principles of good health that happen when we are in sync with the beat of nature.

The Right to Know what is in our food is a No Brainer for most people. in 2012, more people than ever became aware of Gene Manipulation in our foods. Prop 37 in California gave impetus to a coalition of people from many states, and for a movement on the national level, calling for us to Label it!--Label Genetically Modified foods.

In this chapter, I will talk about my meeting Bob, who reintroduced me to an old friend--Ancient Wheat. In 2012, I, also became a champion for KAMUT ® ancient Knorasan Wheat.

I want to look at the the issues of Gluten, and the manipulations that have happened to wheat.

WHEAT BELLY



A popular book, called"Wheat Belly." pointed out the dangers of wheat, however, I believe the manipulation of wheat needs to be addressed. We are now looking for the culprit. I do not believe the culprit is gluten, as much as the manipulation of wheat, as well as understanding that by laws of nature, a variety of foods would be the mainstay of a healthier diet.

"Had Wheat Belly gone on to further explore the differences between modern and traditional wheat and, most importantly, how they affect people differently, then this could have been a groundbreaking book. Unfortunately, that isn’t what this book is really about."

Davis doesn’t present a shred of evidence that modern wheat has a worse (or even different) impact on human health than pre-industrial wheat. The only anecdotal case he makes is that he personally found a farmer who grows traditional wheat, made a loaf of bread, ate it himself and seemed to be fine. This is not science.

Bob Quinn is coming up with much of this evidence.

Some people who can not tolerate gluten, can handle KAMUT ® that also contains some gluten. The difference is that the gluten in KAMUT ® is not manipulated.

I am convinced--intuitively that Pre-Indistrial Wheat--has less damaging effects on health, but as Dr. Bernard Jensen points out, variety in the foods we eat is very important.

I want to tell here the story of a kernel of wheat as I know it.

Following my studies with Dr. Bernard Jensen, I was led to the work of the Essenes and 20th Century Essene Renaissance Pioneer Edmond Bordeaux Szekely.

It was through these two men that I learned of my own relationship to the Essene stream of Teachings and Teachers, and the cross cultural 8000 year Traditions from indigenous people that all upheld the beat of nature.

Professor Szekely wrote about "The Legend of Zoroaster." In this story, we find this message: A King was troubled. He could not sleep. He was concerned about his own Fiscal Cliff. He met a gardener. The Gardener gave him a simple gift--Kernels of Ancient Wheat. The Gardener said, "Grow these seeds and you will enter Plant Parenthood.

The Seeds of Ancient Wheat will Reparent you. As you help parent these seeds, you will as well get your beat back with nature. This will be a gift to you from a simple kernel of wheat.

"The wheat which we use,, grown organically on our own ranches, is stored when harvested, in the whole grain, and ground only as it is to be used. This prevents any loss of vitamins. When it is to be eaten as a cereal, it is stone ground in various grades from course to fine. When it is to be used in bread, the whole grain is soaked until it is just being to germinate. It is then ground and mixed immediately into dough.

So today, we face a turn around time. We are compelled to once again Grow the Seeds below our belt back to health. We can influence our gene pool through producing more and more people who regain confidence that we can grow some of our own food.

Growing a Grassroots movement is the key as I see to the problems we face to today.


7.5 MILLION + 2 GRASSROOTS MOVE TO RESTORE AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL

During the 2012 California Campaign to Label Genetically Engineered Food, It became clear that we would need a simple majority to win Prop 37. I asked Pamm Larry, the instigator of the campaign, how many people voted in the 2008 election. She said 15 million.

So 7.5 Million +2 would have been a simple majority that we needed to win Prop 37.

Today, we face a nation of people who need to get our beat back. A good start will be 7.5 million + 2 who help grow a healthier Pizza.

Growing KAMUT ® Khorasan ancient wheat, letting this ancient grain be our teacher--has much to teach us today. If we are bankrupt today through eating wheat as it now exists, then KAMUT ® to my mind, is the Real 'Dough."

Davis is apparently a medical doctor who treats patients for heart disease and other ailments using a wheat-free diet. Though this isn’t particularly revolutionary I was immediately intrigued by the first chapter of Wheat Belly, which gives a detailed explanation of how modern wheat is different both physically and genetically from the wheat “our grandparents grew up eating.”

How interesting!

He explains that selective breeding and genetic manipulation to increase wheat yield have dramatically changed the chromosome number of modern wheat compared to earlier versions grown before the 1950s. This, he claims, fundamentally changed the molecular properties of wheat and we are supposedly not yet adapted to the new product.

I haven’t gone through all the plant biology to determine if any of these claims hold water, but the premise is fascinating. If modern wheat were really a primary cause of the health issues plaguing Western society, not only would gluten be off the hook (once I started reading I thought this was going to be another gluten-free diet book), but all other grains would be back on the table, even older versions of wheat.
