PRE EVENT AT LUTHER BURBANK GARDEN AND HOME
Sunday Noon--to four...
Street Address: (Not For Mail)
204 Santa Rosa Avenue
Santa Rosa, CA 95404
I will be spending Sunday, September 9 from around noon to four at the Luther Burbank Gardens, 204 Santa Rosa Avenue, in the heart of Santa Rosa, CA. Santa Rosa is the site of the National Heirloom Expo, September 11-12-13 at the Sonoma Fairgrounds.
Monday is the set up for the National Heirloom Expo at the Sonoma Fairgrounds, and the expo runs Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
I see my time at the Luther Burbank Garden as an the Unofficial Opening Ceremony for the National Heirloom Expo.
Luther Burbank's book, "The Training of the Human Plant" has been instrumental in the development of my work that is called Plant Your Dream.
The book written in 1907 begins with this reflection:
"I have come to find in the crossing of species and in the selection, wisely directed, a great and powerful instrument for the transformation of the vegetable kingdom along lines that lead constantly upward,"
Luther Burbank is one of of our greatest plant breeders, however, it is important to underscore in light of current approaches to genetic modification, that his approach was always in harmony with nature.
I am coming up from San Diego, "on a journey of Faith in the seed, to help Win Back Our Sacred Seeds."
I believe we are each Sacred Seeds and it isthrough the experience of growing food from seed that we regain our beat with Nature.
Luther Burbank wrote: Every Great man and woman is at heart a poet, and all must listen long and hard to the harmonies of nature before they can make translations from her infinite resources through their own ideals into creations of beauty into words, forms, colors, and sounds."
These words deserve reflection today as we have the opportunity in CA to Vote YES on Prop 37, the Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act.
My contribution toward the passage of this Proposition is literally planting dreams with people, and helping to plant a grass roots movement to win our Right to Know if our foods are Genetically Engineered. This is what Prop 37 is all about. It is a consumer rights issue. I have respect for others with different points of view. I believe this is a time to have an open Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food.
I will teach two classes at the National Heirloom Expo, one Tuesday at Noon, and another with Kids on Wednesday. Both are Called Grow A Healthier Pizza.
The name of the class is a reflection on Special Interests that last November in Washington helped define adding a few ounces of Tomato Sauce as defining Pizza as a Vegetable.
"If Pizza is now a Vegetable, then it is our decision to Grow A Healthier Pizza. by some of the principles that Luther Burbank taught.
One of my favorite stories was about the Earthquake of 1907. There was destruction around neighborhood of Santa Rosa from the San Francisco Earrhquake, but not a single pane of glass broke at his greenhouse.
This was a testament to the love and good will he expressed toward Nature, and nature's Finer Forces working to protect one of their favorite nature boys.
I aspire to live my life by the same principles.
As a Ceremonialist coming to the National Heirloom Expo, I want to invite all in attendance to join me at the Luther Burbank Home and Garden.
"Let ius begin our journey to Santa Rosa honoring one of the greats of the heirloom seed world,"

MY ADULT CLASS
Letter to Paul Wallace
Paul, I am driving up from San Diego to connect the South with the North and bring Significant Ceremonial Presence.
This is the role and service I have offered to the National Heirloom Expo Since Day one of our delightful and progression of conversation.
I see the National Heirloom Expo as a major Rally Point for our Win on Prop 37 and this is the focus on my opening class
at noon on Tuesday, as well as brief stage appearances that can either introduce keynotes speakers or be part of a brief
intro to Keynote speakers.
I am coming up days in advance with ceremonial intention.
My intentions include visiting and going blessing on the Petaluma Seed Bank where I want to take photos.
My passion is to help spread the word about the Petaluma Seed bank and its importance.
Baker Creek through the donation of seeds is one of my primary sponsors of the Caravan and my presence.
I am a natural ceremonial leader.
I was an M.C. at the original Whole Life Expos in their Heyday and have done this work at many festivals and gatherings over the years.
I know how to be brief and appropriate to the moment and lift and coalesce energies.
HERE ARE VARIOUS INSPIRED PIECES THAT CAN BE SPOKEN AS WELL AS USED IN PRINTBY BAKER CREEK ON BLOGS AND IN CATALOGUES
I am a professional photographer of plants. My work has been used for many years as a Gift item for the Organic Trade Association, and the photos that I will take during our three day event will have lasting benefit to the future of the National Heirloom Exposition.

Let us plant now the Greatest Grassroots Movement In CA History that
wins the Right to Know Label Genetically Engineered Food.
There are enough of us to win this. We need 7.5 Million + 2 to commit now to Victory.
LESLIE BIO NOTE ON SPEAKERS AT NATIONAL HEIRLOOM EXPO
Leslie Goldman, “Your Enchanted Gardener” on the internet and in life, writes daily on the popular Curezone Plant Your Dream Blog with more than 5.3 million page views. He is a food activist and ceremonialist from San Diego, California known for his inspired poetry, photography, and ability to ground intentions with heirloom seeds. He is on a journey now to win back our sacred seeds. He invites everyone to sign the “7.5 Million + 2″ petition on Change.org; “7.5 Million +2″ is the magical number of votes we need to win Prop 37, the California Right to Know (Label GMOs) ballot initiative. Leslie’s rally cry “Grow a Healthier Pizza!” is now being planted with seeds of Ancient KAMUT® Khorasan wheat, as well as Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and teachings for food reform that go back more than 100 years in U.S. history.
The Ultimate Gardener: The Best Experts’ Advice for Cultivating a Magnificent Garden with Photos and Stories (HCI, 2009) credits Leslie for photographs and inspiration. The book’s dedication reads: “To Leslie Goldman, The Enchanted Gardener, for planting dreams and seeds of inspiration. To all those who garden and for those who dream to have a garden one day.”
Leslie was given a U.N. Peace Medal in 1984 by Robert Muller, U.N. Assistant Undersecretary General.
Leslie will lead an opening ceremony, participate in a closing ceremony, and have two “Plant a Healthier Pizza” sessions: one for adults, and one for kids.
THESE ARE CREATIVE PIECES
WE ARE HERE TODAY BECAUSE WE HAVE FAITH IN A SEED
Faith in a Seed
Though I do not believe
that a plant will spring up
where no seed has been,
I have great faith in a seed.
Convince me that you have a seed there,
and I am prepared to expect miracles.
Henry D. Thoreau
From his book "Faith in a Seed"
when i touch grass, i touch infinity
thank you for growing your beat with nature
as you grow a healthier pizza!
saying these words will connect your
life scriipt with the beat of nature

38 days to go until i leave on the caravan
"sacred seed, sacred plant!
i hold you in my hands
and hold you as my future.
thank you for representing
wishes i am planting.
as you grow,
so will my seed dreams.
growing you will help me
celebrate the harvest
in my life. thank you
for reminding me
i am a sacred seed.
thank you for reminding me
that the universe thrives
as i thrive.
today we grow
a new enchanted garden,
a renewed earth!
today, i am planting my dream!
today i am planting a beautiful tomorrow!
this prayer is a reminder why we need heirloom seeds to 'plant your dream!"
victory for prop. 37, the right to know-label gmos, the california 2012 initiative, will come as we create the greatest grass roots movement in california history.

“if you watch the growth of this seed...
you will find that there is an indestructible
and mysterious power in it--the power of life.
if you watch long enough,
you will see that the grain disappears
and is replaced by a plant
which will triumph over
all obstacles and opposition--
which will grow higher and higher
and higher because it has life within it.”
from "the book of asha,"
by edmond s. bordeaux
(edmond b. szekely)
"you, too, must one day cease to be your present self,
so that you may become a richer personality,
in pursuance of the law that life always creates more life,
truth more abundant truth, the seed more abundant seeds.
this is one answer to your problems given by the grain of
wheat--professor edmond. b. szekely,
"the essene book of asha."
WE ARE HERE TODAY BECAUSE WE RECOGNIZE THAT THERE IS ALREADY
A PERFECT TECHNOLOGY THAT GOES WITH LIVING ON EARTH
We are a part of Nature's Original Technology, of Pure water, sun, air, and soil.
We Are here today because What we have done to our food is not working.
A Whole Generation of new Youth are called to remember that in each seed
is the power to Plant Your Dream!
We are here because we believe in the innocence of the America Dream that has held its hand open to principles of Unity through Diversity.
We are here to recall the deeper stanzas of American the Beautiful.
The bring out the Values that say Grow A Healthier Pizza.
And so today, we are each invited, by the nature of the Seed speaking
to us...to Plant Your Dream!
