The 'how' of the labral tear plaguing my hip

how a small problem became a big problem - a possible partial labral tear became complete labral tear

Beginning 2012 I went to my GP with a swollen gland in my labia, and slight discomfort in my right abdomen. She told me to come back if it gets worse. Six months later it was worse and the GP sent me for x-ryas and a sonar of my abdomen. The gynocologyst I was referred to, gave me a cleanish bill of health and referred me to a orthopedic surgeon to check my right hip.

By the time I managed to get an appointment with the hip doctor, I had taken some cortisone, NSAID's and had a lot of rest. I felt a bit silly going there, since I did not have any real noticible discomfort anymore. He rotated my leg in various ways, not managing to induce the pain - he then performed the MFIR after warning me that it will be painfull. It was not. He repeated the test with more force, upon which I felt a sharp pain in my right lower abdomen.

Since my visit to the orthopedic surgeon, on 30 June 2012,  I have endured extreme pain and am almost completely immobilized.

In a hysterical fit of pain, I managed to find another orthopedic surgeon who ordered an MRI. I was diagnosed to have a complete labral tear and the new hip doctor advised concervative therapy: bed rest for a month and anti-inflammitories. If the cartilage had not repaired itself  in 4 weeks, he said surgery could repair the damage.

I am two weeks in, and the pain has calmed down somewhat, but notacible discomfort continues. After being very dependant on painkillers for 3 (almost 4) weeks, I have managed to ween myself, and am doing it without perscription medication. I move about with a cruch for about 1 - 2 hours per day, resorting to bedrest during the rest of the time.

The post in "ask curezone" has more detais of the x-rays and sonar:
