What are the "facts of the origin and development of" the words: nutrition and nourish?

Not really surprisingly - the origin of the word "nutrition" goes back to "nourish" which comes from the Latin word to "nurse" as in breast-feeding! Here is "the pure milk of the word"!

I would like you to contrast the spirit of "nutrition - nourish - nurse and breast-feeding" with the "truth" of pasteurization as I have presented in other posts including: "Pasteurization and The "Milk Problem"[3]
Pasteurized foods are (relatively speaking) a recent phenomena that originated from and exists in commerce.
Sandor Katz says: "Industrially produced food is dead. It servers our connection to the life forces that sustain us and deprives us of our access to the powerful magic so abundantly present in the natural world"[1] Consequently - we are losing and have lost many live-culture foods that were traditionally part of our multi-diversified cultures; foods that once connected us with the very life forces that are part and parcel of a culture's truly nourishing nutritional wisdom. he industrially produced foods of commerce have dumbed us down.
"The term dumbing down describes the deliberate diminishment of the intellectual level of the content of literature, film, schooling and education, news, and other aspects of culture. Conceptually, the term 'dumb down' originated (ca. 1933) as movie-business slang, used by screenplay writers, to mean 'revise so as to appeal to those of little education or intelligence'.[1] The occurrences of dumbing down vary in nature, but usually involve the over-simplification of critical thought to the degree of undermining the concept of intellectual standards — of language and learning — whereby are justified the trivialization of cultural, artistic, and academic standards of cultural works, as in popular culture."[2]

Although food is not included as one of the aspects of culture where a "deliberate diminishment of the intellectual level" occurs there most certainly has been a dumbing down in "literature, film, schooling and education, news, and other aspects of culture" about food and nutrition. One most foundational example is the exclusion of the work of Weston A. Price in "schooling and education".
In addition consider the idea of "brain food". What were the traditional "brain foods". Are these foods included among the modern day foods of commerce?
Then consider the anti-brain foods like sugar and virtually every processed food with sugar in it and yet which is a major part of the S.A.D. Standard American Diet advocated by "the American Dietetic Association (ADA) who is now known as the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics"[5]
I see a whole lot of dumbing down with, in and all about our food! One traditional food that I am passionately devoted to defending is that of "raw milk". As of today, July 23, 2012 - my "Raw Milk: The Whole Truth" blog has
228 blog entries and has been viewed 242,845 times. This one food item can be a perfect example of all the above from both a positive and a negative perspective.
For instance real milk is the mother of the first stream that I have set out above re: "nutrition - nourish - nurse and breast-feeding". That is the positive perspective and the one that I have been actively advocating for well over the past eighteen years.
The negative perspective at first glance may appear to be about the same food but in truth it is really all about a completely different industrialized and commercially processed item that has virtually has the same name of "milk", but since it has been so utterly transformed in many ways - I don't believe it can honestly be considered the same food! I do not take that S.I.C. (Severely Industrialized & Commercialized) product and I do not advocate taking it at all. Buyer beware!
