The Bright and Dark Side of Wheat
KAMUT (R) Knorasan Wheat is one of my teachers this year. The other is Arundo Donax, The Giant Reed.
I just came back from the 2nd Festival of Traditional Medicine of the Americas. I was introducing Kamut to Mexico.
Wheat is at the center of my favorite story by Professor Edmond Bordeaux Szekely. The story is about Zarathustra and is told in "The Essene Book of Asha."
The very act of growing wheat is inspiring. It gives us back our confidence that we can grow some of our own food.
Khorasan wheat is ancient wheat. It is said that it was the wheat Noah placed on the Ark to help save future generations.
Ancient wheat is a far cry from modern wheat that has been one of the most damaged foods and potentially damaging foods when abused.
Today, we abuse wheat.
Dr. Bernard Jensen was my spiritual father. He traced many imbalanced not so much to wheat itself, but to the processing of wheat. Wheat has been commercialized. it early on in the history of 20th century industrialization of our food supply became the centerpiece leading to the destruction of health because it could be so easily manipulated.
Dr. Alfred McCann is the author of "The Science of Eating," 1919. In the foreword to the book it says:
From the Preface to “The Science of Eating” by Alfred McCann (1918)
in Mr. McCann’s opinion, it will be a long time before Congress will successfully grapple with the facts which he now outlines in detail {In his book, [ "The Science of Eating."]
His belief was that the work must be done in the schools.
He said, “Our American children must be taught the meaning of depraved foods, that they must learn how foods are processed, bleached, colored, sifted, bolted, denatured, degerminated, demineralized, chemically treated and refined; that they must be taught the relationship of foodless food to sickness and death; that they must be taught the relationship of natural food to health and life.”
Dr, Bernard Jensen's "beef" with Wheat
Dr. Bernard Jensen's "beef" with wheat was that we ate too much of it.
He said, it was only one of many grains, however, we had made it 1/4 of our human diet in America.
It was a variety of minerals in various combinations that gives us the foundation we need to build bodies that can contain our dreams.
more on this later....
I just ran across an interesting study called "The Dark Side of Wheat."
I want to look deeper into what the author is saying.
