How can each one of us incorporate these principles or values into our lives and actions to prevent suffering and ensure the sustainability of our planet and its natural resources?

My TAKE

It is important to balance climate change out through growing plants, and creating a strong local urban agriculture that shifts consciousness.
The seeds of this are now happening in San Diego. One of the most important issues facing each of us now, is coming to terms with the ingredients in the foods we eat. Many of these are unhealthy. A true "Science of Eating," (1918) as told by Alfred McCann in his book of that name, and the awareness of Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, whose work established what became the FDA need to be told. Climate Change is just one more extension of a planet in peril because we have lost our way with nature.

Gratefully, there are scientists among us now we are telling the truth, but as in 1906, corporate interests need to be challenged that truly science, government, and regulations might come to Peace.

The first step would be to enter into an honest Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food.

I could have listened more closely. I would like to read a transcript. The panel esteemed science very much. My sense is that science is not going to solve the problem. It is one more brand of religion, and sadly much of science that I see now is bought and paid for by forces that want a certain point of view to succeed.

The AAAS, The American Association for the Advancement of Science is a hotbed of Biotech ingenuity. I believe that many of these scientists honestly believe that Biotech, a system of Genetically Engineering plants through cell invasion, is a legitimate pursuit.

The president of AAAS, Nina Federoff has a remarkable book called "Mendel in the Kitchen." I have ordered a copy and will be sharing many teachings based on 8000 years of plant and indigenous wisdom. I want to share why the arguments are faulty based on nature wisdom.

One of my favorite teachers is Luther Burbank, who helped Ireland overcome famine through a form of genetic modification called classical plant breeding. The condition of famine in Ireland was caused by doing exactly what present day Genetic engineering is doing--limiting the diverse gene pool.

Those in the camp of science, who often receive funding to follow a particular line of research and who fear loss of their grant funding or ability to get access to tools they need, are party to a great crime being committed.

The FDA, who we count on to uphold standards of truth and looking out for the public interest, has been funded by the very same corporate and commercial interests since its inception when Dr. Wiley first imagined a Pure Food Law in 1906 that would, if in place today, outlaw most of the junk food that is currently bringing our youth and many adults to our knees.

For any who want to look into this, you can read "The Science of Eating" online by Alfred W. McCann, a muckraker for the Globe newspaper in the early part of the 20th century.

Like the Dalai Lama, who held out hope that the future lies with helping our children, McCann believed the children were our second line of defense to bring in a peaceful era. McCann wrote 'The Science of Eating" around the time of World War One.

Solving the Climate Crisis

If we want to solve the Climate Crisis, take proactive moves to learn how to live on the earth. If we want to make better decisions about how to live on earth, begin to get your beat back with nature. Science is not going to bring us home. As the Dalai Lama pointed out, we need ethics and compassion to go with our science.

Getting our beat back with nature is a fundamental shift needed.

This begins with regaining confidence that we can grow a bit of our own food. Begin simply. Start with a few plants that will grow in pots.

Last week I was studying "The Science of Eating" by Alfred W. McCann.

He addresses the Pure Food Law of 1906 and how the commercial interests, as far back as that, took charge of our Food and Drug Administration.


These commercial interests have the United States Government on their side, ever since they ousted Dr. Harvey W. Wiley from his job as head of the Food & Drug Administration in 1912. The present head of the Food & Drug Division of Nutrition, Dr. Elmer M. Nelson in a special Constitutional Court in Washington last October testified that:

Our Current FDA is controlled by interests that want Biotechnology applied to agriculture to Reign Free

The views of the FDA are controlled by a science that wants Biotechnology to reign free. This is harmful. Growing evidence is coming out to suggest that Biotech Ag results are dangerous. The arguments in favor of Biotechnology applied to agriculture are based on science that is not honest.

Check out this FDA statement from the second FDA head in 1913:

"The reason it was found wholly UNSCIENTIFIC to state that a well fed body..."
is because we do not want real science. Science is not looking into the questions that will bring us to a state of health.

I am glad that the Dalai Lama, or the introductory speaker from Ebay, it may have been, spoke to the need for spirituality as much as science. Much Science now is in the hands of philosophy that is no longer based on real science. It is bought out by the interests that feed it.

Today, GMOs need to be taken out of our Food System, but the Science, as funded by the corporate interests would suggest there is no science to prove GMOs are bad.

Look to science not funded by corporate interests for the answers to why we need to take back our seeds.

I am sorry...I would like to feel compassion now...but I did not hear what I wanted to hear from this talk from UCSD on Climate Change.

if we look to science to solve our problems now, we will continue to have climate change issues. Return to Nature's Original Technology.
Get in the Soil. Allow Plants to be our teachers.

The Dalai Lama looked my way

I had an experience with the Dalai Lama in 1989, at the conference, Harmonia Mundo in Orange Country, where the announcement was made that he had won the Nobel Peace Prize. I will tell that story.

Wednesday, April 18 (9:30 a.m.): The Dalai Lama and UC San Diego scientists Veerabhadran Ramanathan and Richard Somerville will meet as part of the "The Global Impact of Climate Change: Balance Through Universal Responsibility, Compassion and Human Consciousness" discussion. The discussion will be available at uctv.tv.
Wednesday, April 18 (1:30 p.m.): The Dalai Lama will be at the University of San Diego's Jenny Craig Pavilion for "Cultivating Peace Through Justice." The discussion will be available at sandiego.edu/dalailama/media.
Thursday, April 19 (9:30 a.m.): The "Upholding Universal Ethics and Compassion in Challenging Times" topic will be addressed by the Dalai Lama at San Diego State University's Viejas Arena. The discussion can be viewed at sdsu.edu.

Plans to give talks at UCSD, USD and SDSU, April 18-19


Uniting their forces, three local universities are bringing the Dalai Lama to San Diego in April for a series of talks on topics ranging from global climate change to religious harmony. This will be the spiritual leader’s first official visit to San Diego.

“I see this as a historic event for the people of San Diego — and the world,” said Lama Tenzin Dhonden, an aide to the Dalai Lama, who helped arrange the “Compassion Without Borders” symposium at the University of California San Diego, the University of San Diego and San Diego State University.
